September Entry

Hello Friends! I changed up the Entry to this Early Fall look back in late August. Honestly, I thought I better share this now before I got the itch to take it a little further into Fall. If you know me well, you'll know my rooms make multiple transitions from one season to another.

Pumpkin Palooza at All About Home #109

Hello friends and Welcome to the All About Home Link Party!

I think most of us are now ready for Fall, but the weather hasn't been cooperating, at least here in the lower Midwest. We're still dealing with 90's and no rain. A little heat doesn't deter those of us that Love Fall, though. We have our mums and pumpkins and we're going for it! Thank you for taking the time to come by and share what you're up to this week. We always look forward to seeing all the great DIYs, decor, crafts, gardening, and recipes that you are all creating.

"Hello Fall" Silhouette Script Chalkboard

Hello friends... I'm joining a small group of bloggers today to share how we've used chalkboards in our vintage decor. Cindy from County Road 407 has put together a Blog Hop series that celebrates all things vintage and how we incorporate them into our decor. If you're coming from Cindy's blog, welcome, I'm so glad you're here to continue the fun!

A few years ago when chalkboards were a big trend in vintage decor, I fell in love with the look of vintage chalkboards and all the wonderful art displays and creative hand lettering. From elaborate to simple and childlike; chalkboards are an expressive way to share ideas and information.

In 'Memory Box,' Individuals Tell Their Stories Of 9/11 Then And Now

Hello, dear friends. I want to take a moment and share a link to a documentary that aired on MSNBC September 8, 2021. It was a very powerful and intimate personal look at a few of the people that lived through 9/11/01. It's a look at those people 20 years ago, and then again earlier this year, in their own words. They share their stories of loss of family and friends and how their lives have changed during this last 2 decades.

The personal stories are what have challenged me the most. We each have individual stories, as do they, touched by profound grief and tragedy.

I don't have a link to the actual documentary, only this piece about it. It may not be available to view streaming yet, but I wanted to share it with you for future reference. It will bless and touch your heart.

Blessings to you all, and prayers for our country moving forward. Debra

Orange Buffalo Check Pillows and a Ticking Quilt for Fall

Sometimes all it takes to start the transition to another season can be as quick and easy as changing up a few well placed pillows, and pillows are usually the first thing I change up for the season. Late last month I posted 10 Tips to Transition to Fall where I share how I have an easy plan to move into the upcoming season. I know I just shared the Hearth Room in August, but these new pillows and quilt brought a different look and feel to the space.

September Hydrangeas in the Holiday Cupboard

I'm going to openly admit that I have a small obsession with updating and restyling my Holiday Cupboard that's out in the Garden Room. It has become a reflection of what's happening with the seasons and the holiday at hand. After the "late summer" version with the Majolica, I wanted to head into September, but wasn't ready for a bunch of orange and pumpkins. That will be here in the next week or so. For now I wanted to play off the gorgeous purples, mauves, greens and neutrals that I've been loving with my dried hydrangeas.
