Vintage Inspiration # 112 It's November!

Hard to believe that it's now NovemberTime to make the transition from Fall into Winter. My favorite month, October, just raced by, but I enjoyed it. And now, even though the calender still says Fall, the leaves are coming down, we've had numerous frosts, and a warm fire brings on thoughts of Thanksgiving and Christmas. So to get started, I want to share a photo from my file, a wreath from Country Home magazine from November 2006.

Are you ready?
 I am!!

You may have noticed I didn't get a post out of the top three links from last week. My best laid plan fell by the wayside. I had a marathon two days of changing out my antique mall space at Relics for the Christmas Open House starting today. Out went the skeleton, sunflowers, leaves, and all things orange, and in came  red, the Holly, and Christmas. This weekend and next are the two weekends of Christmas Open House blitzes for all the shops in Ozark and Springfield. So here are the top three links from last week, with a few extra fun ones combined.

Guess "Hoo" flew in...

You know I've been on a little bit of an Owl "kick" lately, so when I saw these two Halloween die cuts of owls at the Antiques Show last weekend, I had to snap them up. They flew in and perched here in the Entry Hall on my round mirror. LOVE any old die cuts and especially those from Halloween.

They join "Smiley" and a reproduction Halloween card

I know that original Halloween Postcards are really pricey. I had never even seen any in all the years of my flea marketing, until this last weekend. whoa...did I say pricey?
And here's a couple of pics from a great space at the Antiques Festival of the Ozarks this last weekend. "Come on In Antiques" from Seymour, Missouri. LOVE the "Boo"!!

We had a great time and even went back the next day to grab a few other things that we passed by on Saturday. The next show is in the Spring, try to make it if you can. There are so many great vendors.

If you haven't visited The Marketplace then scroll down to the last post to check out the great links.

Outdoor Fall Tablescape

There are some of us that really love our Fall issue magazines. We keep them and drag them back out each year to study and savor; taking mental note on ideas that we each year translate into our own homes.  My Autumn publication stack just keeps getting bigger and bigger, and each year my favorite story and photo shoot will always be their outdoor Fall tablescapes and parties. So for the last two years I've gone all out and created an outdoors tablescape and setting that celebrates the season with a vintage party feel.

Departing from the party atmosphere of the last two years, I wanted a simple and quiet getaway by using all white, and neutrals, then letting the subtle beauty of nature complete the moment. Pumpkins, falling leaves, and bittersweet share the setting.

I always enjoy this secluded spot on our patio, under a very large Japanese Maple.  My old iron bistro set became my stage for a quiet outdoors afternoon of enjoying the crisp air, beautiful leaves, and the company of a few squirrels and birds.

I wanted an elegant touch, so two of my Heisey goblets were chosen for their intricate lace pattern and delicate look. A chilled bottle of my favorite Riesling waits to be poured.

A vintage wicker lunch hamper with a happy fat pumpkin.

On our recent trip to St. Louis I found this wonderful large ironstone soup tureen from England. Filled with a hearty stew, and with a loaf of crusty French bread, it's the perfect late afternoon supper.

The sun started to peek thru the clouds, but the chilly wind let me know that November is just around the corner.

An antique French fringed luncheon cloth
and a stack of old ironstone plates

and a wicker flower gathering basket holding linen napkins,
some bittersweet and a white pumpkin complete the table.

what a perfect Fall afternoon
