Vintage Inspiration #86 Serendipity

Hi Everyone, time for Vintage Inspiration!

This week, like last week, I'm featuring one of you who links to the party. I'll be doing this more often, as I'm always amazed at some of the talent and fresh ideas you all share with us each week. This week I'd like to showcase a relatively new blog, Serendipity.

Sometimes you find a blog out there that just grabs you.
You know what I mean...
one that you feel an immediate connection with.
That's how I felt when I found
Kimberly from Serendipity.

So many things here to love...

Kimberly lives in a wonderful new home, but recently wanted to take her formal "traditional" decor in a somewhat different direction. This is where I totally relate. She didn't want to start over. She wanted to make the change using what she had...lovely traditional furniture. Here is a before shot of her formal "brick red" dining room.

Before

For the first step, repainting in a neutral color made a huge and immediate change.

 After

And then there's the chandelier metamorphosis. A very formal brass chandy becomes a shabby garden delight with a burlap chain cover and accents with grapevine sconces lined with moss.

A hutch made from recycled barnwood, an old ladder, and a painted dresser all help transform this room into a more intimate and comfortable French Farmhouse Dining Room.

I love how she's used more rustic pieces to blend in with the "formal",
creating a wonderful vintage farmhouse feel.

Hope you'll drop by Serendipity and say Hello to Kimberly, you'll really enjoy looking back through her posts to also see her Living Room transformation with paint. (If you pin any photos of Kimberley's please go back to her blog so she gets the credit.)

So much other talent out here,
so here are a few other great links from last week:

Elyse from Shabby Sweet Tea remakes a ho-hum table and chairs
into the perfect Breakfast Room dinette set.

Beautifully embellished matchbox keepsake creations

Going from old brass to bronze Chandy makeover from Laurmelas House

Funky Junk Finds from Joy at A Vintage Green
(love the inside of these suitcases!)

Lee from Soul Style shares her love of vintage lighting
and gives a great tutorial on wiring it up.

And the cutest idea;
Chalkboard chargers from Daune at Cottage in the Oaks

Hanging out with my party gals this weekend!

Thanks everyone that comes by to link up each week. You are Amazing! It's so hard to choose features out of so many great links! Please remember to have a visible link within your post, it just takes a minute and it let's everyone else know where to party. If I can do it, you can do it! Each week I find blogs I'd love to feature but there is no mention of where you've linked up. Just a courtesy. Also, my email server has been down since Monday evening. If you've needed to contact me please leave a comment here if it's timely. Hopefully, it will be back up by the end of the day.

OK Everyone, time to link up all your fun this week,
"anything vintage or vintage inspired".

Burlap Tied Metal Basket

Ahhhh the joys of metal baskets...they can be used for so many things.

towels, books, magazines, toys, garden supplies...
I'm out on the sunporch, my favorite spot, to show you
this roomy metal basket that I've had in my garage for the last few years.
(I know....the story of my life.)

I of course, did not come up with this cute way of embellishing it...

adding burlap ribbon and some sort of number or tag.

I have a problem with plant eating kitties,
so anytime the plants are made more difficult to access...the better.

This pastel  "Tumbling Blocks" vintage quilt
is one of my very favorites for Spring.

I'm trying it out on my baker's rack here on the sunporch

But guess what...
after looking at it all day,
I decided I wanted it to be WHITE!

It doesn't show up as well in the photos,
but I love it's fresh coat of paint!

I DO like it better!

I can't take credit for this idea,
as I saw it on a recent shopping visit at Inspirational Home.

I think it would work for almost any metal basket,
it's a fun way to dress them up just a little.

I'll be linking up with these sweet gals this week,

Paula and Patty at Ivy and Elephants
Anita at Cowgirl Up
Michele at Primp
Kathleen at Faded Charm

Dreaming of Chair Slips...

Yes, I've been dreaming of slipcovers...
for my dining room chairs to be exact, and I mentioned a few weeks ago I had made a decision once I saw these slips made up at my friend Debra's store, Inspirational Home.

simple...linen...love

There is a lot of inspiration out here, and I just found these beauties on Pinterest.  I even tried my hand at making some a couple of years ago, but they didn't satisfy my need for something soft, linen-y and beautiful. So...I've been waiting to find the right ones. The alternative was to paint my Dining Room furniture, and I just never really wanted to do it. If I could wave a magic wand and have it done...then OK. But I never could "get there" if you know what I mean.

So today one of my chairs is in the very capable hands of a local seamstress who is known for her expertise and quality workmanship. I'm excited...beyond excited...

Soon these babies will be wearing new little custom made dresses!
can't wait!

If you're local you can contact Debra at Inspirational Home here in Springfield. She has several beautiful linen fabrics you can choose from, or you can use your own fabric. I was able to "design" my own slips as my girls will be showing off just a little "leg" under a deep ruffle and a custom fitted back. I'm looking to break up all the dark furniture and lighten up the space even more. (did I mention that I can't wait?)

Happy Weekend!
