Junkin' Monday

The last few weeks I have been trying to cut back on my junk "proliferation". The garage is full, but you know how it is. This addiction is a tough one. It calls you out at all hours and sends you places you normally wouldn't go. You are found in the company of other people suffering from the same malady, and you sneak back in, trying to hide your finds and stash them somewhere where they might not be noticed immediatlely.

Seriously, I have cut back after a full blown "junk attack" this summer. My problem is I just love vintage "stuff", and if I see something useful, different, or a bargain, it just comes home with me.
I picked up a few baskets at a garage sale, and a few more items at one of the places I have a booth. We aren't spending our Sundays on the road though, so that causes me to not really get the junkin' fix I need.

I have a plan for these candle holders,so please disregard the horrid green candle wax, and the fact that these are "dime-a-dozen". (See how I'm trying to dress this stuff up with some fall leaves?  Maybe you won't notice that it's "junk"!)

Oh, That's right... That's the name of this post!

This was from a new store that I will share with you later in the week,
"Inspirational Home" here in Springfield.
I just love this little handmade wire pumpkin candle sconce.
This store will blow you away! It definitely has nothing to do with Junk!

These little tea light holders with crosses looked like little crowns to me.

Lunch basket, so cute for fall decor.

I'm a sucker for little cottage cannisters.
This will be useful in my office for supplies.

This is a glass door off of an antique wall clock.
I thought it would make a good frame for some altered art.

This is an old round cheese board, and on top is a bar of homemade oatmeal soap
that I think came from Sharon at Sweet Repose.

I picked it up at Leola's Fall Open House,
where I saw Hayley, from Nesting Notions.

We live in the same town, only about 3 miles from each other,
 but we had not met.
It's such fun when you can meet a blogging friend!

Smells heavenly...and so cute all tied up with sheet music and lace!

I found this great grain sack that will become a pillow cover.
 Love the colors.

Brown and light blue-grey.

Apple basket, that's going to be whitewashed and hold a mum.

Old crocheted doilie, just love these.
My grandma would sit and make these for hours on end.

Uh, oh. They've found me, the twins are here.

Better forget about any more shots.

There goes the grain sack.

Of course! What's wrong with me? A cat bed is a much better idea!

Hope you have this much help with all your junk.

I Guess I'll Be Grateful...

I don't know whether to be insulted or thrilled.
I love magazines, and have been a subscriber to this one
for many, many years.
I let the subscription slide on this accidently,
so this is what I receive in the mail.

A huge "Senior Citizen" discount.
So I guess being over 55 does have some perks!
Nothing like someone else's random opinion of your age,
 making you feel "FABULOUS"!
BTW, that is NOT my photo!
Have a good weekend, even if you're Over the Hill.

A "Cloche" Call

With fall in the air, ever so slightly,
my cloche collection has taken on an autumnal hue.
This little silver server is filled with clay fruit and potpourri,
and sits on my coffee table in the Living Room.
A small white pumpkin candle on the entry hall dresser.

These are my doves in a nest on the buffet in the Dining Room.

Sweet face on a fall leaf atop a milk glass cake pedestal.

Old cardinal figurine in the Dining Room.

This is my largest cloch, on top of my Kitchen china cabinet.
I like my flower arragements to change with the seasons,
so I made this tiny one in a white iron urn several years ago.

This is my smallest cloche on a vintage autumn fruit tray.

Be sure and see Marty who is hosting the Fall Cloche Party over at her blog,

May all your treasured possessions be preserved with love.

White Wednesday, White Sheep Revisited

A few weeks ago I shared some of my sweet sheep. Today you can meet the rest. Most of these reside in my kitchen, but a few have roamed around the house, and are tucked in nooks and crannies all around.

This is a print above my desk in the kitchen. The black toile is a perfect compliment as a mat to the gold paint color on the walls.

This print is in my kitchen open hall above a black bench.
She is one of my first sheep prints.

I have about 15 prints that contain sheep, mostly grazing in pastures.

Hiding in a cabinet downstairs.

Downstairs coffetable

An oil painting anniversary gift several years ago that hangs in the Living Room.

Love those fall colors.

In a Christmas conservatory.

Sunroom baby

Out on the deck. I love this concrete baby lamb because she looks
like the headstones that were so typical of infant grave markers,
of many years ago.

Entry hall

Primitive print in kitchen.

Very old concrete pair in sunroom

Kitchen counter soup tureen

chalk planter

Salt and Pepper shakers on silver kitchen tray.

Well, I think most have made their debut.

Be sure and visit Kathleen over at Faded Charm
to see all the rest of White Wednesday.

Happy Wednesday,

"You Should See the Before Picture" Party

Jen from Sanctuary Art is hosting a party today entitled "You Should Have Seen The Before Picture!" Party, and as she has said, it's not for the squimish or faint of heart because she bares all in her decor pictures. Well Jen doesn't bare all, but you know what I mean. She shows before and afters of decor from days gone by.

Since I've only had my digital camera for a year I don't have many "before" photos except for this one project I worked on right before I started my blog.

THE WOODWORK.

We've lived here for 6 years and I was so thrilled to find this house because of the beautiful dark hardwood floors, recently installed, and the white woodwork, which had also recently been painted. We repainted most rooms but there was always one curious thing about the dining room and the master bedroom. They had a strip of white crown molding under the stained crown molding. Now, I understand their reasoning. The doors and stairway were part stained wood, part white. So I guess their thinking was that if they "mixed it up" in the woodwork department it would look like it was intentional... WRONG! All it did was look disjointed and made the rooms seem smaller and drew the ceilings down.

Every single day I looked at it and hated it. You know how that is. You hate something, but you just don't take the time and effort to fix it? Well, that's what I did for 6 stupid years, until I just took the plunge, grabbed the paint can and went to work.

It was one of those "V-8" moments where you slap yourself on the head and say "Why didn't I do that 6 years ago?"

You may not be able to tell alot of difference, but believe me, it looks sssooooooo much better, higher ceilings, bigger room, cleaner. Yeah, finally!

Hope you have fun with some "befores and afters"!
