White Wednesday, Snippets from Ozark

I have a few photos of "White" from my small booth at Spring Creek to share. It's a tiny space, but the atmosphere of the tea room is wonderful. I try to go after lunch hours to be out of the way of the shoppers and diners. If you happen to go on a Sunday afternoon, the heavenly aromas from the kitchen will cause you to go crazy, because that's when the owner and head chef, Brenda, makes her homemade crutons, and does some of her baking. Everything on the menu is so delicious you can hardly make a decision! If you are traveling or live anywhere near SW Missouri you have to come for lunch. Spring Creek is a landmark lunch experience!

This needlepoint piece is so sweet, it has a Scotty Dog in the doorway.

Poor Baby, she's really fallen to pieces. I asked her to please get her
"head on straight" for the photo.

Great old white wicker table

This is an image from last year this time, but I just love this old flower container. I have only seen this one. It is some kind of composite material, not sure, but it has a home with Judy, now, from Leola's.

And speaking of Leola's, here are the rest of my "White" photos, from a few weeks ago. After hearing Jan (Summer Sundays) talk about the store, I imagine that it's all "left the building"!

This white cupboard of Jan's has been one of my favorite pieces.

Be sure and visit the other White Wednesday participants at Faded Charm.
Thank you, Kathleen.

Have a wonderful White Wednesday!

Happy Birthday, Captain America

When we met, you had just turned 20.
I'll never forget how I got lost in your blue eyes.
We've been together for 37 years and you are still my hero.

Thankyou for always being my best friend.
Me.

What I Rescued Last Week, Monday

Yes, I know, I am the Queen of Smalls. That seems to be pretty much what I found last week. When you have a small booth then it just makes sense to concentrate on smaller items. Believe me, I love big furniture and have had my share of selling it, but since my last heart attack scare last January, I have made a deal with my husband and myself, and that is "not to buy anything I cannot carry myself." (OK...maybe a few items, but nothing like before...old habits are hard to kick!)
I have some really great little tables, shelves, bookcases, etc. that I have in the garage, but I've been on the lookout for darker, "fallish" items, lately. Booth spaces are starting to show signs of fall colors, with leaves and pumpkins showing up, so I guess it's not too early to start the change in my space for fall decor.

Four great bird illustrations

Brown transferware soap dish

Stack of restaurant ironstone platters.

little drawers

Hat case with gorgeous blue lining.
Check out "A Heart in Provence" on my blog list. She has two wonderful
hat boxes in great condition.

The find of the day... Blue Staffordshire tureen bottom.
Can't you just see this filled with fall fruit and leaves,
and then at Christmas with paperwhites?

(this is a keeper)

And lest anyone think I am just shabby, pink, white, and chippy,
I do like some primitives.

Antlers in small garden urn.

Small yelloware crocks and bubble prints labeled
"Souvenirs from San Francisco".

paperweight with a courthouse view

English bisquit tin

This old popbottle crochet hot pad brought back memories.

small print of Mount Vernon

Orange Italian tray that screams FALL!

Very old tortoise shell

Hiding under all this is a great grain sack that I found
on the way home from St. Louis.

I have the update on my table re-do from last Monday.
It took some elbow grease, but it turned out really great and very functional.
I'll show you soon.
Hope you're off to a great week!

Not Quite Fall

Well, before you know it fall will be here, and with it a change in front porch decor. As I have said, I enjoy all the seasons, but fall is my favorite time of year. There is just something about the blue sky, autumn leaves, and lengthening shadows that speak to me. Oh, and don't forget the cooler temperatures, either! So before I put away my red sprinkler and bring out the orange one, I thought I'd share a few front porch photos.

Already time to trim the shrubs!

This is the first year I've planted "Million Bells", in the concrete basket.

I have been on a campaign this spring and summer to get the grass in shape. Bermuda grass that didn't make it and a multitude of weeds have been a huge problem. We live across the street from lake access, so there are plenty of varieties of unwanted specimens floating around. Deer also are a big problem. My hydrangea bush has been noticed and has taken a real beating, or "chewing", as the case may be. One year they ate all my impatiens that I had in a huge window box. It looked like a buzz saw took them out!
I hope you're enjoying the end of summer. We have had a good rain or two lately here in SW Missouri to keep things green, and the temps have been in the mid-to-upper 80's with upper 60's at night, so I can't complain too much. Our average peak temp was earlier in the week, so now I'm considering us on the downhill slide. Yeah Fall!

Can't wait for sweater weather!

I'm in Heaven

I just received my fall issue of Victoria Magazine. They have revived their "British Issue" and yes, I am in heaven! I plan on devouring every word and morsel of it. I'm an Anglophile you know, and I truly believe we need to support the magazines we love. A lot has been said in comparing the "New Victoria" to the "Old" one, but as for me, I will subscribe, and support Mrs. Hoffman in her wholehearted effort to carry on the honored tradition.

Fall and England, what a wonderful combination!
