Fall Comes to the "Creek"

It's Here!
Fall has arrived at my Spring Creek booth space.

Now if you don't count the temperature outside,
or the fact that it still says August on the calendar,
you wouldn't know the difference.

I grabbed my man with the muscle
(that would be the two-wheel dolly)
and we headed to Ozark to make the transformation.

While we were there several other dealers were putting
their own touch of fall on the place.

OK, I've said it a million times before,
and I will a million times more
but...
I just LOVE FALL!

I have renewed energy
and that feeling of wanting to cozy up the nest takes over.

I love the earth colors and subtle tones,
but I also love a big blast of
 ORANGE!

Nature inspired dishes, furnishings, and accessories
are all scattered around the space.

As you can see, I don't take myself too serious,
I can't resist an owl.

Vintage Postcard Prints and Magazine Cover Prints
are a staple in my space.

While I was setting up, a well-dressed retired couple came by.
The lady was really interested in my vintage window with the bird prints.
She bent down and examined it with a thoughtful, loving, and appreciative eye.

She got her husband's attention
and of course he had to comment on the fact
that he could " make something just like that"
( how many of us have heard that remark before?)
... with some photographs of birds that he had.

She shook her head in dismay,
and informed him that it just wouldn't be the same.

I hope she comes back for it without the hubby.

And since I don't want a "nekkid" dress form,
I'll be having a few pieces of my jewelry there also.

The Tea Room and store look especially fun this time of year.
There are a lot of great dealers with a wonderful mix of merchandise.

Hope you can make it by.

I'm linking up with Kathleen for White Wednesday

Fall is Coming to Spring Creek

I've been busy pricing and packing things for fall this last week.
About three times a year I do a change out in my antique mall space,
so I'm ready to add a lot of fall items into my booth.

I did another vintage divided window, this time smaller, using vintage bird prints.
It has more fall colors and can be hung on the wall.

Darker colors, fall flowers, and more primitives find their way
into my space this time of year.

This is just a small sample of what's coming in.
I still have the silver, and some wonderful sets of fall inspired china.

We live about 30 miles from a large cluster of lakes near Branson
and throughout the Ozarks, so we have a lot of people with lake houses,
cabins, and rustic lodges in the area.

Besides my love for vintage white, I also love lodge-y and rustic decor.
At several times I've had booth spaces that were a mix
of vintage farmhouse, camp, and rustic.
I like to keep it "changed up"!

As I've said before, Fall is my favorite time of year.
Out come my Pendleton blankets, twig furniture, and "nature inspired" decor.

I will have my space redone by the end of the weekend,
so if you're looking for some fall inspired items,

Come down to Spring Creek in Ozark for something new and fun.

And remember that two weeks from today will be the first
Vintage Inspiration Friday!
Hope you'll grab the button on the side bar and join in.

Have a great weekend!

Vintage Inspiration Friday

With fall just around the corner,
Halloween, Thanksgiving, and Christmas,
ideas start swirling in our heads.

No, it's not too soon to start gathering our inspiration
for all that this time of year has in store.

I've been thinking about this for awhile and thought it might be fun to have one day of the week that lets us share our inspiration. I know there are a lot of parties out there. I love to join in also. Just think of this as a way to not only share our creative ideas, but also give credit to the source. Is it a magazine article or photo, designer, place, shop, book, word, color, another blog or blogger? The possibilities are endless. We have so many sources of "inspiration" let's celebrate ideas and inspired creativity. And if it's your own idea, that's still wonderful, feel free to share. We'd love to see it!

Last fall I found so many wonderful ideas for holiday decorating from magazines that I had stored away in files. Blogging gave me an opportunity to try out some projects that I had been wanting to do. Feel free to combine other parties, I just ask that your topic and post be "vintagely inspired". Please include that "inspired idea" somewhere in your post. Old posts or new. Feel free to use an idea and pictures from a previous post. I know I have several that I will re-use. I never get tired of a great idea!

I'll be setting up a linky on Thursday evenings at about 5:00 or 6:00 pm CST. And I'll take links all weekend. Now, I've never done a party or "linky" before, so keep a good thought for me as I get this rolling. We'll start Thursday evening, September 2. I know this is Labor Day Weekend, but join in if you can.

It doesn't have to be long and involved, just share what's on your mind with the upcoming holidays, decorating, crafts, renovation, a furniture or room re-do, a recipe; etc. you get the idea. An inspiration photo would be great. And if you have a finished creation, even better.(We'd also love to see the process). Don't feel like it has to be a major production. Let's just share our "inspiration"!

I have a button, and I'd love for you to grab it and display on your sidebar and post. Even if you don't join in every week, it will keep you thinking about a future idea. Please be sure and link back to Common Ground in your post.

Come on...Let's share that Inspiration!

You still have a few days to enter the
Design Your Own Give Away!

Lots of love to you all!
let's have some fun.
no pressure...
just fun.

Hoarders Party

Do you ever feel like this?
Drowning in a sea of stuff?

I know I have, and not THAT long ago.
In this last year of blogging
I've "outed" myself several times.

and now?...
things are much improved!

We've been on a major mission this summer to
clean up and get somewhat organized.

OK, how organized can you be if you have an antique mall space?
I'm just sayin'...

You HAVE to have a stash of stuff at the ready
since you never know when something will sell,
and hey, there has to be back up!
...right?

So these photos from my garage are really pretty good for ME!
Considering up until last fall you couldn't even get a car in here.

Now, instead of being packed to the ceiling,
 it's only half way up!

And my storage room downstairs has been lined with shelving
so you can actually get in there now without risking a trip to the ER!

So go and check out Shelly at Bungalow Bling
She's throwing a party for all us hoarders
and for the crafts that have gone wrong.
got any of those?

love,
Debra

You White Up My Life

Sorry, that's been rummaging around in my brain
and I just had to say it.

Anything look different?

I'm almost afraid to admit it.
Yes, I have a gallon of white paint and I'm not afraid to use it...

I won't show the before picture
(ok, just a teensy tiny one, so you can't see
how fabulous it is, er...was.)

because I'm afraid some of you might come after me
and kick my fanny.

You know how it is when you have something that's totally gorgeous,
that you absolutely LOVE and adore,
but it's not quite right?

Something that you think about,
consider,
weigh the consequences,
(will it be a huge mistake and will I want it back like before?)
and obsess over?

OK,
maybe you're not ocd...
but I think you can relate.

Anyhoo, I just couldn't get past the idea that this wonderful
piece of furniture didn't match not one other thing in my house.

So out came the white paint and the brush and roller.
Now I can relax...
it's white.

and so as not to waste white paint,
I slapped some on a few other unfortunates around the house.

This print had a "terra cotta" colored frame

well, I guess because it IS terra cotta,
but what were they thinking?...
it didn't match at all.

and these old chalk french children had been gold.
You know what that means...

yup, nothing is safe around here.

and here's a completed project
that didn't require paint,
just some muscle.

We finally got the Dining Room chairs covered.
10, count 'em.
Thank goodness my husband is a helping hand!

I still have more chair slips to make
but that can wait for awhile.

Now, I'm just warning you;
Fall will be visiting here soon.
It's my favorite time of the year,
so at the end of August
(blah)
summer gets booted out!
