Subtle changes are showing up around the house, now that we're into August. This is the time I switch gears and look toward fall. As I've said before, August used to be my least favorite time of the year, but now I look at it differently... it's a transition time leading up to the cooler months and my favorite season. Autumn.

Layering Elements for a Summer to Fall Entry
This time of year; late August to early September, I'm about easing into the Fall season. Since it's still really hot outside I'm not quite ready for a lot of dark colors, leaves and bright orange pumpkins. I still want to keep it light and bright, but have a subtle change in color to the warmer hues of autumn.

Vintage Baskets in the Entry
Last week in honor of May Day and Mother's Day, I put together two little baskets, one vintage, the other basket new but with similar elements. I was inspired by the old tradition of May Day where you would put together a small bouquet and hang it on the front porch door. Then you would hide and wait for the lady of the house to come to the door. Such a sweet gesture, but maybe not too practical in today's time and culture.

Early Fall Entry with a Vintage Botanical Print
Hello Friends, time for an Early Fall look in the Entry since we're midway into September. The entry console changes up frequently as do most areas of the house. When we first looked at the house, now 4 years ago, the wall paper in the entry (and Dining Room) really pulled me in with it's traditional neutral taupe stripe.

Early Summer Entry with Bovine Beauties
Despite the gray, rainy weather (and poor light) I wanted to share my late Spring/early Summer entry. Late May is the perfect time to decorate using lovely lush pastel Hydrangeas with a hint of summer that's on the way.

The Snowy Day
When we bought this house three years ago we got an added bonus with a finished basement. It's a 1964 brick rancher that had all we needed on one level, which was the requirement. So the basement became my husband's domain with his office, a storage room for him and one for me. It also has a large living space for a big screen TV and fireplace, bath and exercise area. The stairs are easy to navigate, unlike what we had before which were terribly steep and daunting. I was thrilled to have a lower level and the storage; even better because I didn't have to visit it each and every day.

Flea Market Finds in the Dining Room
I've not been out to the fleas or antique malls for quite a while. Between the back problems and Covid and my autoimmune issues, I've had to put a lot of shopping on hold. I've really missed having the chance to get out and enjoy the fun of vintage and antique shopping. Let's just say it's always been a highlight of my week/month/year to get out and browse around. The added perk is that I always came home with not only fun finds, but also filled up with new creative ideas.

Vintage Botanical Print in the Early Summer Entry
It had been since before Easter that I gave the Entry a seasonal freshen up. I wanted to make a few changes that would carry this area easily into Summer. I had my husband pull out the floral tubs last week, but then I decided to just keep the paperwhites here a bit longer. They're one of my favorite go-to faux flower looks. I had plenty of other arrangements to freshen up to move into Summer.

Transitioning a Fall Entry to Thanksgiving
Have you ever finished up a vignette or decorated an area for a seasonal look, that appealed to you at the time, only to come back the next day, scratch your head and take it all apart and start over? Well, this happens with me, and that's not a good sign. During the early Fall I shared a post using this vase filled with hydrangeas, fall flowers, and sunflowers, but the very next day when I looked at it, I was over it... Got rid of the sunflowers and fall flowers then added colorful leaves instead.

Early Fall Color in the Entry
When the calendar flipped to September I knew it was time to change out my all white flower arrangement on the entry console. I had left the white flowers there all summer; (usually I'm not that lazy...) But changing up arrangements was on my to-do list and I thought I'd try a little more color for this early part of the month.

Early Summer Light and Bright Entry
Hi Everyone, time for an Early Summer update here on the console in the Entry. The last time I shared this spot was before Easter, so I thought it was time to bring it into Summer before it started sprouting the flags and Patriotic red/white/blue.
