I've been trying to take my own advice by taking decorating at a slower pace. I'm changing things up with the seasons, but also trying to not let it overwhelm me. During early summer I love using patriotic elements and color for décor, but adding flags to a basic summertime "look" goes a long way for me.

Moss Bunnies on the Spring Sideboard
Hi friends, Happy March; I hope you've been having a great week. It's been a little hectic this last few weeks for me. My husband decided to combine two storage units, so I've been trying to sort thru some boxes. (enough said) Good news is that I've found a few things I thought were lost, so yay for that.

Late Fall Looks on the Sideboard and Cookbook Cupboard
Last post I shared my hearth room mantel and décor along with a few woodsy friends. I guess you could call this part 2 of the hearth room as the sideboard and cookbook cupboard are actually in the hearth room.

Favorite Antique Furniture: Sideboard Dressed for Spring
Do you have a piece of family furniture that you dearly love and wouldn't part with, but just doesn't fit in your décor aesthetic? A piece you can see the potential, but in it's current state ends up in storage or hidden away in some "off the beaten path" spot? Well, here's my story of a lovely piece of antique furniture that had been relegated to the basement for years.

Fun Easter Graphics and Pillow in the Spring Hearth Room
I've loved this Big Bunny Face graphic since I'd seen it several years ago, so when I found it on a pillow cover from Amazon recently I had to have him to celebrate the season. He reminds me of the Peter Rabbit illustrations of Beatrix Potter so many years ago. Realistic, but a little whimsical, too.

Holidays at Home Christmas Mantel and More
Doesn't it seem just a short time ago we were celebrating Christmas week? The older I get the faster time flies. But here we are again celebrating Christmas and getting ready to end the year and looking forward to the New Year!

Dough Bowl Pumpkin Centerpiece On the Antique Sideboard Buffet
Hi Friends, this post is a bit overdue as I had wanted to get this out at the beginning of "Pumpkin Season", but I had to be out of town for a bit. I think most of us try to refresh our faux pumpkins every few years to keep them updated and looking crisp and new. I had a few in my fall squash stash that really needed a mini makeover.

Cozy Up to Fall in the Hearth Room
Welcome to my mish mash of early fall pics here in the Hearth Room. I shared my Mantel with Transferware and Ironstone earlier this week, so today I'm sharing the rest of the room. Things change pretty quick in September so I need to stay current week by week!

Vintage Cottage Weekend: Flower Pot Wreath with a Garden Update
What do you get when you combine vintage French seed packet labels and whitewashed clay flower pots on a grapevine wreath? Well, you get a wonderfully unique Spring wreath full of vintage garden-y goodness! Over the years there have been so many beautiful renditions of flower pot wreaths; each one slightly different as they take on the decor personality of the creator.

Snowy White Churches on the Old Sideboard
If you all remember, the sideboard was one of those family pieces that lived in the basement the last several houses we've had. I had a few pieces that I wouldn't /couldn't part with that had been handed down for at least a generation or so. I loved them, but just didn't have a spot for them in the main living areas. The sideboard was from my grandmother's home and is from the late 1800's. It was black with old varnish at that point, then we refurbished it in the late 70's and it stayed with a sealing oil finish until we moved here 3 years ago. Since I painted it white with ASCP I've fallen in love with it all over again.

Lovely Lemony Daisy Arrangement on the Sideboard
Hi Friends. A few weeks ago I wanted to update and give a summer refresh to the sideboard here in the Hearth Room. I'd had a tabletop wooden wheelbarrow filled with my Garden Pot/Seed Packet Wreath and some vintage garden-y things, but it was a little too spring-y for mid-June. It was time for some early summer flowers to make an appearance.

Seed Packet Garden Wreath on the Sideboard
Back in 2013 after seeing a few versions of flower pot garden wreaths, I put together my own take using a grapevine wreath as the base with small whitewashed flower pots and French seed labels attached to paper tags. Since I'm such a fan of vintage garden goods and ephemera, I've loved using this each year during the Spring and Summer seasons. I just needed to figure out a place to put it here at this house.

There's a Bunny in That Basket!
Hi Friends, I thought I'd share a few last minute Easter snaps with you all.
In my decor book, the only thing better than "a bunny",
is a bunny in a basket...
or on a tray, or drawer, or in a crate.
You know, some kind of cute vintage container
to keep it corralled and surrounded by flowers, eggs, moss, or veggies.
(It's a little hard to make out, but that's a brass rabbit mold on the shelf)

Little Houses on the Sideboard and Cookbook Cupboard
So, now it's Christmas week and I still have a few spots around the house to share. I've decided I'm going to have to start a few Christmas posts before Thanksgiving, because the Christmas season is just not long enough! I'll just blame it on more fun spots to decorate.

Decorating the Sideboard for Christmas
This week I've been sharing Christmas in the Hearth Room, so next I wanted to show you the rest of the room and the antique sideboard. I've always loved the little curved shelf above the mirror, but this is my first time actually decorating it for the Christmas Holiday. A few little British crocks, some white reindeer, and bottle brush trees keep it light, bright and lots of fun.

Fall Sideboard and a few "Technical" Difficulties
This is one of those posts when I feel like starting out with a big "So..." which is always a telltale sign of frustration. This has been a few weeks of computer/blogging frustrations for me. We all use different computers and different software etc. I happen to like a desktop computer that has a big capability to house tons of photos and programs etc. But my tech skills are not particularly whippy. I freely admit it. I depend on my husband for his technical and computer expertise, so it's a PC not a Mac which I would be on my own with.

Stacking Painted Baskets
I'm very fortunate to have a long wall in the Hearth Room that can handle multiple pieces of furniture, and I've made use of it to bring back two vintage pieces I've had for years. I didn't know how they would look together, but I realized I'd need something of a different size and texture to go between the two.
