It's in the Details: The Christmas Hearth Room

Earlier this month I shared my hearth room and my white pieces that reside against the long wall, but didn't get the chance to share the details. There was a lot going on in this big space, so today I thought I'd come back and take a closer look at the sideboard, cookbook cupboard, and the little Christmas tree. If you missed that post you can click here.

The Cookbook Cupboard and a Paper Pumpkin Garland

This old cupboard is a fun spot for kitchen related vintage items along with my cookbooks and cookie jars. My scroll-y chalkboard is a constant background on this piece as it causes whatever is in front to literally pop. Fall is always a favorite season to decorate this spot, which was inspired by my kitchen china cabinet top in our last house.

Hop Into Easter in the Cookbook Cupboard

Last week I shared a new pair of moss bunnies on the sideboard. So today the sideboard's furniture buddy, the cookbook cupboard, is getting a little Easter/Spring decorating. I really never have much of a plan, but gather odds and ends together for a little seasonal display on top. The "Cookbook Cupboard" got it's name from the messy bottom shelf and cookie jars that I've had for awhile.

Late Fall Looks on the Sideboard and Cookbook Cupboard

Last post I shared my hearth room mantel and décor along with a few woodsy friends. I guess you could call this part 2 of the hearth room as the sideboard and cookbook cupboard are actually in the hearth room.

Summer Sideboard and Cookbook Cupboard With Patriotic Color

Hello there dear friends! I hope you all are having a wonderful Father's Day Weekend. I wanted to share part 2 of the Hearth Room patriotic decor, that I started earlier this week. The Hearth Room has a lot of fun spots to decorate seasonally, so I concentrated on the mantel and seating area in Part 1.

Cupboard Top Spring Garden Vignette

Hi Friends, it's hard for me to believe, but I haven't shared the cookbook cupboard (in real time) since last late summer. It has been seasonally decorated, but somehow didn't make it to the blog. Since I love decorating with a garden theme for spring I wanted to make sure that I share the latest on the cupboard top.

Holiday Leftovers in the Cookbook Cupboard

No matter the holiday I always seem so have stray bits and pieces of rooms and vignettes that get left behind. Big holidays are usually the ones where I take tons of pictures, then run out of time. This year there are a few Christmas leftovers still to share. Since I like to keep a visual diary of my decorating year to year, I didn't want to leave them. Especially when a few cute birdies were out in the Garden Room.

October Fun in the Cookbook Cupboard

Can you even believe it's the end of October, friends?...
It's finally feeling like Fall around here.

I'm fortunate to have several fun spots to decorate seasonally throughout this house. The hearth room, which is right next to the kitchen in this open concept area, gives me enough space to have a dedicated spot to display my cookbooks and some fun vintage kitchen related decor.

Late Summer in the Cookbook Cupboard

It seems like August brings all the chickens out to gather in the kitchen and Garden Room. I think of them "down on the farm" hunting and pecking in the barnyard; waiting around for a sprinkle of feed then heading to cooler shady spots for a siesta. So here we are on the Cookbook Cupboard now in late Summer with a few of my vintage flock...

Spring Vignette on the Cupboard Top

Once a holiday is over and all the obvious "holiday decor" has been packed away, it always seems bare and bland. I gathered up the bunnies and Easter related pieces and they are now safely tucked away till next year. A "Spring" refresh is always easier for me than other seasons, because vintage garden goodies can easily fill whatever holes might have been created when the Easter eggs and bunnies said "bye-bye".

It's A Plaid Christmas in the Cookbook Cupboard

Hi Friends, I've been getting started decorating for Christmas this last week, so my house has been a total mixup. You too?  Boxes and tubs filled with fun, once a year items to unwrap and enjoy. I like to change things up a bit each year, but some things are just "traditional". I use red Tartan plaid only once a year, so at Christmas I welcome all my collection and let it saturate my house.

Summertime Snippets from the Cookbook Cupboard

Hello my friends, now that we're past the July 4th holiday I think we can safely say we're in to mid-summer. That's when I bring out a few tried and true vintage pieces that I just associate with "summer". One of my fun spots to decorate with seasonal vintage pieces is on top of the "Cookbook Cupboard" that's here in the hearth room. It's easy to reach and even though my large scroll-y blackboard and monogram is a fixture here, it gives a fun background to show off some larger vintage elements.

I've had this little twiggy summertime wreath for quite a few years, and usually end up tweaking it each year. It's loaded with summertime florals in bright color. Lillies, roses, raniculus, and zinnias all work together with some faux Creeping Charlie to make it a summertime favorite. It's a little fragile, so it's not something I want to use outdoors. Plus, the birds love to break off the twigs and fly off with nest fodder.

Little Houses on the Sideboard and Cookbook Cupboard

So, now it's Christmas week and I still have a few spots around the house to share. I've decided I'm going to have to start a few Christmas posts before Thanksgiving, because the Christmas season is just not long enough! I'll just blame it on more fun spots to decorate.
