Hi Friends, I hope you all are enjoying your early spring and the transition from frigid gloomy days to some sunshine and colorful trees and blooms. No matter the weather I always enjoy some color and seasonal cozy in the garden room. Of course every change in season and holiday is reflected in the re-styling of the Holiday Cupboard.
I brought out a few of my Peter Rabbit collection books from the 80's. Both my girls, especially my younger daughter had a real love for all the Beatrix Potter Peter Rabbit characters. These smaller books make a sweet addition to my spring rabbit collection.
I've shared my white rabbit tureen many times and it's always out this time of year during spring and Easter. I made it during the late 80's when ceramics were such a fun personal trend. There was a small pottery shop where we went to paint our own pieces for several years. I really miss the fun of that, but made several holiday keepsakes during that time.
This cross with the Lord's Prayer is a special little piece from the 70's.
I've mentioned before that this cupboard is my "therapy spot". It's like a dollhouse for dishes and seasonal accents. I love playing in here mixing and matching dishes, color, and sweet vintage items that I've collected throughout the years.
Oh, look who's here!
I made this colorful spring wreath several years ago featuring yellow forsythia, lavender lilacs and yellow/orange tulips. I know they don't all bloom at the same time, but the color combination is a riot of vibrant color.
Debra, I love your Cottage Easter Cupboard with all the rabbits and that adorable bunny tureen you made!! I'm sorry if you had this post linked and I missed it for this week's SYS. If you link up, I'll grab it for next week. ;)
ReplyDeleteEnjoy your beautiful, light-filled sunroom and cupboard's fresh Easter look,
Hugs,
Barb :)
Thanks Barb, I'll come back by and post this. I can't leave a comment on your blog. It rejects my comment even after I've checked boxes and filled out info. Don't know why, so sorry.
DeleteHi Debra. I always loving seeing you play in "the cupboard".. There is something about an old white cupboard that is so special. Of course, when we bought one of our old cupboards it was white but we stripped it back to the original pine and now hubby won't let me change back! I remember the days of all the white ceramic animals and I did a few but only have a little left. I got rid of so much stuff early on and that is why I am on the verge of "Hoarding" now!! I know there comes a time when you regret doing that. It all looks so pretty and I just love seeing what you do..Happy Spring..xxoJudy
ReplyDeleteHey Judy, I've purged so many things over the moves. I look at old posts and say "where did that go?" I can't believe I gave that away! I can understand not wanting to paint an original cupboard after all the work of stripping it. I just slap on a new coat of paint every few years!
DeleteHi Debra. I just made a flower umbrella myself. Love these. Your cupboard is beautiful as always. Have a wonderful week. Hugs. Kris
ReplyDeleteOh fun!! Please show us Kris. I just love these, especially for spring!!
DeleteYour cottage cupboard IS Easter! I love the white and the Beatrix books (I use mine, too!) This is such a fun season to decorate for and you do the best!
ReplyDeleteThanks Jeanie, It's one of my favorite holidays to decorate for!
DeleteI absolutely love this! So beautiful!
ReplyDeleteI love your therapy corner, Debra. I've been playing in dishes, both at home, but a lot at the antique mall too. I am divesting of all my vintage jadeite and Greenbrier china! The Greenbrier china was gone in a single weekend (that's how you know you priced it too cheap)! I can't help myself from buying new & old pieces (I usually go for salads, which are so versatile), so I unloaded four tubs of this to compensate. Like you, it's my therapy. And now J loves playing at the table when it's not in use otherwise, so that's fun.
ReplyDeleteI love that wreath and, actually, I have all three of those in bloom right now! My daffodils are fading, but it's a spring buffet of color like your wreath is. So pretty!
I love your Easter decor. It is so bright and springy. :)
