Cozy Christmas Home Tour

Hello friends, I'm so glad you came by today to share a Christmas Home Tour with me and a group of friends that share our love for vintage finds and décor. Need some ideas and inspiration for Christmas decor? I think we can all agree we like to grab fresh ideas for our holiday homes. Join me and 16 friends as we share our Christmas Homes. If you're coming from Niky at House on Silverado, thanks so much for clicking over here.

When we bought this house almost 7 years ago the front porch and landscaping were stuck in 1964. We renovated the porch to give it a more rustic timber vibe, updated flooring and interior paint, and we were fortunate that a kitchen and "den" had been renovated into an open concept kitchen and hearth room. A large and airy sunroom had also been built across the back of the house. So today I'm in the Hearth Room that is my favorite place to relax.

The hearth room is what sold me on this house. I always look for "comfort and cozy" in this space, filled with quilts, pillows, soft lighting, and a place to put up your feet. The fireplace is the focal point and the gas fireplace can warm up this area of the house in a minute. My number one makeover here, was to enlarge the mantel to decorate for the seasons and holidays.

Last year I fell in love with this wonderful pair of wood look reindeer and gold leaf and berry gold garland. When decorating this year, they returned to this spot on the mantel but with a few changes. Grapevine twig cones, mercury glass candleholders, and a birch bark candle joined a vintage architectural piece for a neutral vintage look.

My vintage "cobblers bench" stands in as a coffee table with an antique tray holding an ironstone tureen with faux pears, some favorite sheep and a topiary. Below, an antique sewing cabinet makes the perfect small table for a corner lamp and Fontanini Nativity from the 80's. The century old armoire holds a TV.

I always pile on the wool Tartan plaid throws, blankets and pillows for the cool weather seasons. Having a light neutral background with paint and furniture, I love using colors of the seasons and holidays.

An antique canvas covered wooden trunk from the early 1900's gives me storage space and an end table for cozy lighting near the sofa. I repainted it from a mustard yellow khaki color when we moved here.

Toiles and plaids and a Pendleton camp blanket make the sofa a comfy spot near the fire on cold days.

Behind the sofa, we needed a walkway to keep the seating area tight knit. Two antique pieces hold fun displays. The sideboard was a piece from my paternal grandmother's mother, and the Cookbook Cupboard was a display piece from my vintage market dealer days. This old cabinet is perfect for kitchen related pieces and old cookbooks.

Part of my ceramic house collection is on the shelf of the original beveled mirror on the sideboard. Ironstone pitchers, a soup tureen filled with vintage Shiny Brites, and a Currier and Ives tray sit on top of a red toile table runner.

The Cookbook Cupboard holds some of my vintage metal Christmas tins and a few vintage Santa mugs. Cookie jars are a big part of the seasonal décor in this piece. The top of the cookbook cupboard is another fun spot for seasonal display. This season it holds stacked vintage tins, Santa mugs, and one of my PB lanterns.

The tree has since been trimmed with vintage ornaments and a woodsy theme. I'll be sharing a more detailed look at the mantel, sideboard, and cookbook cupboard soon.

Here are a few snaps of the kitchen decked for Christmas at the opposite end of the Hearth Room. We love the large butcher block island where we eat most meals when it's just the two of us.

The Kitchen Niche is always decorated for the holidays and seasons, and a wooden tote is fun for a "quick move" decoration for the island.

  1. Debra this post brought so much JOY to my heart. I love seeing your collections so artfully displayed. We both have the same 80s Fontanini Nativity. Classic decor never goes out of style! :) I now am inspired to transform an old white tool box I have.
