When I think of Valentine's Day décor I tend to think about feminine, romantic, lacy settings filled with pink, white, and red. Maybe even some sparkle with rhinestones, sequins, and glittery baubles. This year I put together a few vignettes to celebrate, but in the Garden Room on the farm table I wanted to try to incorporate some Valentine looks with a more rustic vibe.
In early January I put together a tabletop look with a rustic color scheme log cabin lap quilt and my wicker fishing creel. I tucked in a small faux evergreen tree and a couple of smaller breadboards. My vintage ice cream bucket is filled with Christmas greenery, faux pear branches and fall look faux hydrangeas.
An ironstone pedestal held a large birch candle and a few pears were in the mix. All that was corralled on my larger breadboard that usually anchors the items on this tabletop. When I started thinking about Valentine's Day I just tweaked things a bit and added my pottery Valentine from a mold.
I found my red toile quilt and decided I'd replace the log cabin one for this red/cream small quilt as a runner. I removed the breadboards and added in a vintage small pillow with an old doily instead. Since I still kept the fishing creel out, the setting still has the rustic feels. The small fabric pouch was attached to my earlier vintage creel that literally fell apart a few years ago. It was a spot to store flys for fly-fishing.

Mercury glass votives are beautiful especially during the fall and winter months. They are so moody and mysterious and add just the right amount of ambiance to a vignette or table setting.
It's easy to decorate with some Valentine decor without redoing everything. A few strategic tweaks can give you a different look without a lot of time, effort and head scratching.
