Thanksgiving Baker's Rack and a Peek at Christmas

I still have a few bits left for Thanksgiving, but now I'm working on decorating for Christmas. I love Fall so much I always go overboard so moving from Thanksgiving to the Christmas Season can mean lots of packing up and storing away before I can really get to Christmas. I've been trying to make it easier, but as you know there's just no way around it unless you're a total minimalist, which of course, I am not. 

So here we are in the Garden Room with the Baker's Rack, one of my concentrated display pieces. What can I say, I'm a sentimental collector of vintage goods, small and large. 

Anyone that has been to a flea market or vintage market during the fall season has run into at least one of these ceramic/chalk mass produced Turkey platters. They are from Japan and I'm sure were sold in places like Woolworths. But they are fun, and "transferware" and affordable. 

I also have my white Turkey small tureen stacked on top of some of my "new-to-me" white swirl Staffordshire china. I've mentioned that my mom had a large set of this china, but at the time she downsized I didn't need it. But now could (and have) kicked myself for not grabbing it. That was before blogging and I wasn't thinking ahead.

My homemade "SEED" display box always holds random seasonal smalls.

I love old trays and have a few metal ones that I use during the fall season, like this wonderful still life "painting" of fruit and a pitcher.

Vintage candy and biscuit tins are another mini obsession. I especially love this woodsy cabin and it comes out each fall. The little figural chipmunk is a salt and pepper combo.

Product recipe pamphlets are another favorite and this one from a ham manufacturer in 1924 features a Pilgrim couple on the front. Who knew the Pilgrims ate cured and processed ham back in the day???

Two remnant bottles from a visit to a Missouri winery; Lambs and Vines in Diggins, Missouri. Sadly it didn't survive the pandemic, but their website contained this amazing photo that really touched my heart and transported me to the French countryside.

Here are a few pics of the sitting area in the garden room that goes through a multitude of looks during fall. The wicker settee is one of my favorite spots and was also of my two kitty girls. Grabbing a cup of coffee or hot tea then curling up on the quilts is one of my small rituals for the cool weather winter months.

As I'm bringing the Christmas vibe in here as I write this. I'm using my wool plaid blankets and throws as a base and changing up the pillows. That's the easy part. Surprisingly, red Tartan Plaid and brown can work together.
