Plaid Greetings from the Christmas Baker's Rack

Hi Friends, the combination of Thanksgiving weekend and decorating for Christmas can be a lot of work, as you are probably experiencing right about now. I had a lot of things out and felt like I had a plan, but the more I puttered, the more I needed to do. Is that a sign of age...? Maybe just someone has too much fun Christmas stuff. But I've always been one to "decorate" up until December 24, no matter what, so I guess that explains it.

I have a few pieces that I've had forever and I just love seeing them each year. They are like old friends, so no matter how I try to come up with new looks there are some things that will always make it back onto the shelves for Christmas. I just try to mix and match new ways of sharing them.

This grapevine wreath with the goose is one of them; although not long ago he got a new plaid ribbon and Christmas pick. He's just too cute to not let him out of the storage tub.

I brought out a couple of other old friends that I've had for years. One of them is the handpainted wood cutout Santa my mom painted back in the 80's (middle shelf) and a wonderful handcrafted Snow Man from an early blogging friend.

I found the house lanterns at Michaels in two sizes a couple of years ago. They often show up on the mantel throughout the year. I don't think Michaels sold them this year, but you could check on Amazon, where they have some similar items. 

A few of my old (and new) red Tartan Thermoses will be here each Christmas. I had a bigger collection of vintage Thermoses before we moved here, but I gave them away. I was a bit short sighted on my thinking back then.

The red enamel French cafetiere is another favorite that I love

 using at Christmastime.

Another fixture on the baker's rack is this fun little spice cabinet with teensy drawers that are just big to be decorated with cute seasonal pieces. A vintage ornament and mini white reindeer are tucked in.

I can't remember where I found this adorable little red brick tin house. I'm sure it was a cookie or candy tin. no markings or advertisement, though.

When I started trying to locate the Staffordshire white swirl plates I ran across the sweet little gravy boat. Perfect size for serving mini reindeer!

Here's the adorable snowman that I received back in 2011 from Cheryl, a very talented crafts person with the blog, Zany Mayd. Some of you that have been around for awhile may remember her amazing creations.
