I'm getting ready to tweak my "Early Fall" Holiday Cupboard, to an October version that has more current seasonal color and vibe to it. When we were living at our last home I didn't have a spot for the Holiday Cupboard, so I focused with seasonal dishes on my Kitchen China Cupboard. I used more dishes than odds and ends, but it was still fun to "decorate" with natural and seasonal bits of bittersweet and leaves.
Today I'm sharing some fall looks from my Kitchen China Cupboard over the few years that we lived in our previous home, along with my sitting area with different looks of quilts, pillows, and coffee table vignettes.
I collect, red, green, a few bits of blue, but brown is my favorite and easiest color to collect. Fall is the perfect time of year to bring out all the Brown Transferware.
I've had several readers say they wish they had a dedicated china cabinet to decorate seasonally, but it's easy to create a spot on a shelf, bookcase, top of cabinet etc. that showcases antique and vintage dishes with seasonal florals and accessories.
The "top of the cupboard" has become just as much fun to create as the shelf displays. I have large chalkboard that had become a background for whatever was used seasonally. Also a large vintage laundry basket served as a "nest" for smaller pieces and florals.
The white vintage birdcage was another staple on the cupboard top.
Stacks of mismatched transferware and ironstone mingles with Staffordshire cows and figural creamers.
I found these glitter acorns years ago at Michaels and have fun using them as "fillers" for cups, sugar bowls, and gravy boats.
Here are a few snaps from those Fall cupboard tops...
Dried hydrangeas and preserved fall leaves are a beautiful combination.
I let my small table go when we moved here so we'd have a place for the larger farmtable, but I sure miss it's petite presence in the kitchen.
This is my favorite fall wreath that I bought from Grandinroad and reworked a bit with more leaves and faux hydrangeas.
This old crate/tray has since been painted all white and distressed, but then it was in it's original state. I love using trays, baskets and crates to corral smaller pieces.

I had fun getting the front porch together this last week for the Front Porch Hop.
You can catch that post and check out some fun inspiration HERE if you missed it.
Hope you're having a wonderful first week of October!
The trees are starting to get color and I'm excited
to enjoy my favorite season this year!
