Most of the red/white/blue is packed away, with a little red left behind for "summer". Mid-summer is here and I now have a short space of time to bring out the seashells and put together some fun displays and vignettes using some vintage elements as containers.

In the past I've created displays using trays and tureens, silver candy dishes and iron plant containers. Most of those vignettes have been decidedly on the "romantic" side, but this year I wanted to do something with a bit more "rustic garden" feel.

You can't tell it from the pics, but both those urns got a thorough scrub before coming inside.

I have a few more shell decor ideas coming up later in the week. Hope you're having a great one!

ReplyDeletethanks Kris, yep, that's about as close to the beach as I'll get, haha!
DeleteOh how I love this post! The seashells are so romantic and beautiful!
ReplyDeleteoh Thankyou, I do love getting them out each year and finding something fun to do with them!
DeleteBeautiful Debra, love your Starfish. Apologies for not visiting in a while, we have been taking care of our Peanut.
ReplyDeleteI've been keeping track of you guys on IG. I've been through all the ups and downs you've been experiencing with our kitties. It's so hard and just consumes your thinking and prayers. So glad you stopped by. The heat is horrible and I'm not handling it well this summer. Take care of yourself. I'm praying for you.
DeleteWe just got back from the beach and were surrounded by shells but none as nice as these. And I couldn't believe how nice the weather was! Love your coastal vibes. Happy summer!
ReplyDeleteso glad you had a great time with good weather. Sounds wonderful!!
DeleteWhat a cozy and relaxing space, I love the Greek key planters too, gorgeous! :)
ReplyDeletethankyou Tanya and thanks for leaving a note!
DeleteThis is just perfect, Debra. It feels so summery and so very happy.
ReplyDeletethanks Jeanie, coming by to visit!
DeleteI wish I had the seashells I collected from the past. You mentioned your squirrel problem, we have one who thinks he owns this property. He will jump on the garage roof, and when I pull into the garage will look down at me and make his noises while that tail flicks back and forth so fast, I am certain he is giving me a piece of his mind for disturbing him. He really gets riled up when I let the pup out, it can be comical to watch!
ReplyDeletethose crazy squirrels get so territorial and they think they own the place. I can just picture him shaking his finger at you! I still enjoy watching them even though they're naughty. I have one or two babies that are pretty tame. They don't understand why everyone runs away when I come outside.
DeleteYes, I had no idea they were like that until we moved here! He thinks he owns the whole block, but it makes me giggle when he thinks he's giving me the what-for. I like to watch the one here too, he is always busy hiding nuts in some of the craziest places.
DeleteDebra, love seeing this post. I've transitioned over to a nautical theme in my dining room. I still have my tray of Uncle Sam folkart figures out on a table in the sunroom, along with a doughbowl filled with patriotic things, but the dining room is all about seashells, Nantucket baskets, and other pieces with a nautical theme. It's lighter and offers a serene feel compared to the robust red, white, and blue. It's my theme for next weeks Summer on a Tray Blog Hop.
ReplyDeleteoooh, sounds beautiful! Can't wait to see it!
DeleteLove your shells, especially in the candle glow, Debra! Thanks for sharing the evolution of your lovely space. Happy Mid-Summer!
ReplyDeletethanks Barbara, so glad you came by! Hope you're having a good summer!
