I started thinking about the Entry and looking back through my pics from the last several years, and was surprised that I hadn't seen a post with my Entry Hall console decorated for July 4th. I do each year, but for some reason I hadn't shown it here on the blog.
I basically had a "summer" entry set with faux paperwhites in one of my "Italian look" pottery vases, a lush summertime print from R. Atkinson Fox (one of my favorite "vintage" artists), my white tole candlesticks and my silver painted floral basket from late May. Perfectly acceptable and I even added a pair of vintage memorial flags to the paperwhite arrangement.
It was pretty and summery, but I thought I'd like to try a quick change up for a more patriotic look, with a bit more of a patriotic red/white/and blue color scheme.
So I grabbed one of my smaller vintage flags and draped it across the top at a slight angle and started adding a few things to the tabletop. First thing was my 70's foam eagle which received a little makeover last year with Rub and Buff. I borrowed him from the mantel where he was roosting and gave him center stage once again.
Then came my prized insurance plate from 1919, which is now officially an antique, and the white tole candlesticks. I like using these old once electrified candlesticks where I want a bit more of a "fancy" look. Their intricate and fragile lines just lend themselves to a vignette that's more "Frenchy" and not rustic.
This whole console makeover look took me less than 5 minutes to create. And just a little extra effort gave me a pretty patriotic look in the Entry. Here are a few pics from 2020. I love the white hydrangeas and vibernum, but I was using them in the garden room and didn't want to take apart that arrangement. So the faux hydrangeas worked since there was a lot of other elements going on.
A few more posts from the 4th decor.

ReplyDeleteWow, that eagle and flag really stand out and make quite the statement! Looks fabulous!
ReplyDeleteThere is that entryway table I fell in love with all those years ago! It is always styled so perfectly. I love that you were able to pull off a makeover in 5 minutes, it usually takes me a while. I am one of those who pulls everything I own out before I finally decide on one small change lol!
ReplyDeleteThe Eagle is fabulous! I love this entry with the flag and simple patriotic touches. I just can't get enough of patriotic decor!
