Valentine's Day in the Holiday Cupboard

Welcome to February...

 let's have some fun in the Holiday Cupboard!

Do you have a favorite place to "putter" with decor? I've mentioned before how much I love playing in this cupboard with dishes and knick knacks. It goes back to my old days of having vintage goods spaces where every inch was fair game to "decorate" for holidays and seasons. Besides, it's good therapy for me to design and create with dishes and ephemera. And since it's Valentine's Day I'm gathering all things floral, sweet, pink, and teensy bits of red!

I have a few pieces of vintage floral and rosy china, teapots and ephemera that I like to mix in with other transferware and ironstone. This is the time of year that I bring them out and have fun displaying all the romantic elements in the Holiday Cupboard.

I started with plates from my red transferware collection. I have a mix and match group as a background and then a few stacks of saucers and bread and butter plates that are floral and transferware. Decorative floral pitchers and a few floral china vintage teapots add to the mix. An adorable "single lady" frenchy figurine coordinates the "frenchy" lady metal candy boxes.

I found these lovely little quilted fabric puffy hearts embellished with lace, ribbons, and buttons last year on Etsy. A few vintage postcards from the 20s and 30s are sprinkled around.

My sister found this adorable little felt lamb for me this last Christmas. Loving his red jacket!! She tried to tell me it was a mouse. no... it's a lamb. (what do you think?)

Long before blogging, I loved making small cross-stitch pieces for holidays. I always had a small project going, waiting in my basket next to my recliner.

I love doing seasonal and holiday styling in my cupboard, and you can create a holiday look on any shelf, cabinet or tabletop with a few easy pieces. Just look for color related items. They don't have to be specific or holiday related. For Valentine's Day just look for pinks and reds and items with hearts and flowers. White dishes and china pieces are always a great backdrop for any holiday display.
