This last few weeks I've been straddling the fence with Thanksgiving and Christmas. It's the same each November... I love Thanksgiving, but I'm also ready for Christmas. Here's the baker's rack for Thanksgiving with a bit of a peek at Christmas. Here's the fun Christmas teaser...
The beginning of November here in SW Missouri is usually still relatively warm with leaves still on the trees and honestly I'm just not ready for Christmas decor if it's in the 70's and 80's. I know some of you all feel the same because we just can't help that we're laggards in the Christmas department.
So I try to start Thanksgiving in mid October to at least get to enjoy some Thanksgiving fun and then leave up some Turkey decor throughout November for Thanksgiving. I wanted to do a bit of both holiday themes, so I've been taking my time and daily changing up to Christmas as I "feel" it hit me. Honestly that's hard and confusing for me. Hmmmmmm.... I have a split personality in November.
I don't get my copper things out much other than Fall and Winter, because of the "color" of copper. It just lends itself to those seasonal hues. I wanted to highlight it all on the Baker's Rack for Thanksgiving, and once I had it all out, I thought well hey, lets just try it for Christmas too!
I don't have a lot of copper pieces and all of it except a cute little "butter melter" I've found at fleas and vintage markets. (oh except my colanders). Prices of everything including vintage have skyrocketed as you know and so I try to limit my purchases to small thrifty pieces.
One of my fave little copper accents is this copper flower frog, which often holds seasonal post cards or seed packets. Since so many of my Garden Room displays use a vintage garden theme it's always in use.
Copper always brings French Country styling to mind, so my sheep print is joining in for Thanksgiving.
The two copper colanders are from my own collection before blogging. The one with the rustic bird house I purchased in the 80's and used regularly in my daily cooking. My husband loves pasta so it got a workout.
I adore this little bunny gelatin mold.
More Christmas snaps...
Here are a couple of other posts from 2020 and 2021 which feature the Thanksgiving Baker's Rack. Somehow they always end up being styled differently.
Hope you'll come by the link party on Monday evenings.

I know exactly how you are feeling! I can't seem to get in the mood to decorate in the house for Christmas. And, since I have been organizing and purging thru Christmas totes in the studio, I am pretty much Christmas-ed out right now. I forced my self to do a little decorating for Christmas in the family room yesterday, but I tell ya.....my heart isn't in it right now...lol! hugs
ReplyDeleteoh gosh, I need to purge all my Christmas and Fall Tubs they are way out of control. It's hard for me to let go of decor when I might us it again... some year!
DeleteHi Debra. Happy Wednesday. I love the copper mixed in your decor. Always love your bakers rack. Have a great day. xoxo Kris
ReplyDeletethanks Kris, hope you're having a great week!!
DeleteI'm with you. Late to the Christmas party compared to many (I start the day after TG,, though my brain is working beforehand so I'm good to go that morning!) and copper-in-the-fall girl! I love your copper pieces. They're really lovely. And I might have to borrow your "santa-on-the-cake-stand" idea. I have a sitting Santa and that would be quite perfect! It's lovely and I can't wait to see how it evolves!
ReplyDeleteIsn't he cute, so glad he's in white, so much easier to decorate with. Hope you're having a wonderful week!
DeleteOh my goodness, Debra! I LOVE how all your copper looks for Christmas! I have that same copper pot that you have sitting next to your white Santa. I don't think I've ever come across a copper flower frog before but now I totally want one! It's all so lovely...you did such a beautiful job of styling it all as always. Happy Thanksgiving to you!
ReplyDeleteThanks Rachel, your post a few weeks ago with all your gorgeous copper is what really inspired me to get mine out and style it. Have a wonderful Thanksgiving week!
DeleteWow - the copper looks fabulous for Christmas Debra. Great idea! And you've arranged it beautifully on your rack. That is such a wonderful piece of furniture, and so fun that you can decorate it as the seasons change. Thanks for making me think of Christmas and Copper together! :) Hope you have a lovely Thanksgiving in the meantime!
ReplyDeleteThankyou Barbara, I so appreciate you leaving a note! Hope you have a lovely Thanksgiving week!
DeleteI've enjoyed all your Fall posts, and the copper is worth all the work polishing. I'm hoping to drag out my antique brass for the holidays, if we have them. Hugs, and thanks for all your inspirations. I have been using Safari and unable to comment, but Crome drowns me in ads. So, I'm on Chrome to comment and wish you a Happy Thanksgiving! Sandi
ReplyDeleteI'm so sorry Sandi, I wish there was a better way to do ads. Yes, they can sometimes be overwhelming. Thankyou for taking the time and trouble to switch over to comment.
