Well, next week I'm fortunate to be part of a Hop where we're sharing our galvanized tin pieces and how we use them in our vintage decorating. I had so much fun putting that little display together that I couldn't wait and wanted to share a few pics of the process with you.
I wanted to take it outside on the back porch and put together a fun display with some old vintage flags. I have several galvanized items, but I thought bringing some of the old watering cans together for a patriotic gathering would look seasonally appropriate. Styling a group of vintage and antique pieces is always my idea of the best decorating fun.

Since I had a post last week with the potting bench, I thought I'd set up on the old garden table made out of an antique sewing machine base and an old furnace grate. (above pic) It's perfect for the back porch as I don't have to worry about it rotting. It's basically indestructible and absolutely one of my favorite most chippy awesome garden pieces.
Here's my old metal framed wicker chair out back
with an olive bucket and vintage memorial flags.
...and a vintage locker basket with vintage watering can and garden pots.
I brought out my "churn dash" red and white quilt
and one of my ticking flag pillows for the old garden bench.
A piece of decorative tin ceiling tile...
Not sure what kind of carrier this is;
possibly a milk bottle carrier.

DeleteOkay I was planning to clean off the back porch and add some patriotic touches tomorrow and now I can't wait! I am part of next Saturday's hop too and I scored some old rusty olive buckets and galvanized buckets just in time. I love that singer sewing table as an outdoor piece. The one I had on my porch with the wooden drawers and top starting smelling too musty even though it was on a covered porch. I guess just the dampness and the old wood. I have since been looking just for a base like yours to make a similar table. I definitely need a "Singer" table for this house!

ReplyDeleteThis makes me want to hurry up, get back home and decorate our back porch. Everything looks lovely. What I love the most is that it all looks like it's been there for a while and not like you went out to a store and purchased everything for that reason/season. Does that make sense? So pretty!
ReplyDeleteYour posts always make me want to go redecorate an area, but then I run errands, pull weeds, chop bushes and do the wash, and nothing pretty gets done. Lovely vignettes. We are bug bombing the green house---infested with ticks...and then I promise I will pretty it a bit! HUGS, Sandi
