Hi Friends, so glad you're here today. First off, I could subtitle this post as
"One Vintage Ladder- Two Seasons for Fun Vintage Decor".
Our friend Cindy from County Road 407 has created this fun vintage Hop, where we join in to share our vintage pieces in fun ways and to hopefully bring some great inspiration. Today there's a small group of us showing how we've used this month's topic which is.... drum roll please... vintage ladders!
I've had this little chippy white step ladder for years and most of the time it's been part of my back porch mess decor. I've mentioned before that my favorite type of vintage decor is gardening and outdoor items. When I had vintage market booths they always featured old garden tools and outdoor goods. Only problem was that I just hated to sell those pieces! One piece that I managed to "keep" (smuggle home) after I gave up selling, is this wonderful little step ladder. Actually, it's still sturdy and solid, just a little chippy and flakey.
If you've wondered why I'm doing Fall and Christmas in one post, it's that when I first thought about this topic and post it was still lovely Fall weather in late October. I love doing outdoor posts, especially on the back porch where I can control the light and weather a bit. The trees were starting to color and there was a cool nip in the air. Perfect day for Cozying Up the Back Porch!! Also doing a post on the porch keeps me from looking like a real goober where the neighbors can see me easily.
First I'm sharing the Garden Room where I'm working on Christmas. It takes me a while to haul out all my multitude of "junk" that I love to display each season. I'm one of those people that absolutely love small things. My paternal grandmother is to blame because she had shelves that contained her small bits and pieces of such intriguing figurines, books, postcards and holiday goodies. So I'll just say it runs in the family to enjoy displaying holiday pieces.
It's obvious since I so enjoy decorating the Holiday Cupboard.
The ladder in front, is a fun place to display a few boxes of Shiny Brites
and vintage strings of Christmas lights this season.
A faux evergreen mini tree in a galvanized bucket
and a stack of Tartan plaid napkins help with more holiday vibes.
And previously, out on the back porch, I'm using the ladder next to my potting bench.
I also have a few pics from the other side of the porch in a grouping around
my old park bench, antique wicker chair, and metal garden table.
Vintage Scottish and Pendleton wool blankets along with pumpkins,
mums and a flask of hot tea, set the stage for a gorgeous afternoon.
I had such a great time doing this little photo shoot outside.
Our neighborhood is a mid-century location with tons of lovely
large old trees... with tons of leaves falling.
During the fall people burn leaves and cook out,
so the smell of wood smoke and leaves permeates the air. I love it!!
My husband loves to complain about how I have "junked up" the porch with old pieces that have seen better days. He likes to give me a hard time, but he knows how much fun I have with them. It's been awhile since I actually shared this little ladder, so I was excited to see what I could do with it. I'm so glad you came by today! If you haven't gone by to see Cindy and Lora of Lora B's, you'll want to see their take on old ladders. You can click on the links below to take you visiting.
I have one of these old little ladders at the Farmhouse and wish I could have gotten down there to show everyone but it's not as fabulous as yours! I love how chippy it looks! And why have I not know people burn leaves? That's a great idea. Bet your neighborhood is fun and LOVES seeing how you decorate your porch and patio. I know I would. It always looks great. Glad we got to hop together this month. Pinned
