Hi Friends, Hope you're having a good week!
I love to change up the wicker settee here in the Garden Room because seasonal color with vintage quilts and pillows can instantly change the feel of any space. After Christmas I put out a new quilt I bought last year on sale from Pottery Barn because I was looking for a lighter, brighter vibe. I didn't realize back in January when I put this out that this quilt would carry me thru winter and spring.
I just love the muted pastel floral patchwork, but back in March when the weather started changing I realized the quilt and pillows needed something fun and a bit of a contrast textile-wise. There's a lot of pattern going on within the quilt itself, so more floral pattern wasn't really what I was going for. BTW, I had to do kitty removal from the settee. She's out here every day, (all day) and I had to explain to her that I needed pics and she needed to go sit in the chair instead. Here she is snoozing in an Easter pic.
I thought about a tan ticking stripe, but when I found these large
I thought they might be more of what this quilt needed.
I have a pillow obsession which I've been trying to corral
by using pillow covers instead of actual pillows.
I have a whole dedicated wall in my storage room
that I use to stash and stack all the pillow crazy.
Love that Big Check!
I'm hoping that I can use these with
a lot of different quilts and patterns.
After Easter I wanted to give the Garden Room a bit of a freshen up.
I've put most of the bunnies and Easter goodies away,
so now I'm feeling more "vintage garden" which is my favorite
Garden Room style.
Here is another set of pillows from the same
Amazon store in a light spring green.
I got started on the black/white Buffalo Check pillows back
last Christmas when I needed something new for the front porch.
I have an orange-y/bittersweet front door
that the typical Christmas colors of red and green
just don't work with.
These pillows worked perfectly.
This old English Country Cottage iron doorstop is here
with the basket of faux paperwhites,
vintage garden tools and some old clay pots.
... Restoration Hardware galvanized watering can and a chalk lamb.
The Bloomin' Brella is back this spring
here on the Holiday Cupboard.
We had some weird weather on Tuesday, when it snowed 3 inches.
And I don't even mean "snowed", it came down in huge flakes.
Then on Wednesday morning it was down to 27 degrees.
So the ferns and a few other potted plants came inside for a few days
till the threat of freezing weather is over.
(from the front porch)
(from the back porch)
Hope you're having a good week and survived
whatever freezy temps you may have had thrown at you.
I think everything survived, here.
My azaleas were just starting to bloom,
so I'm hoping they're okay.

Hi Debra. We got some snow this week and it is gone yay! It is warming up again. I love buffalo check pillow too. Yours are so pretty. xoxo Kris
ReplyDeletethanks Kris. Those big checks just go with about anything. Hope you have good weather during your move. I know it's coming up quickly. Can't wait to see your new place!
DeleteHi,Debral, I feel for you as you have morphed your decor to a lighter palette. Balancing favorite items when the surroundings are new and different is just that, a balancing act. We have a blue sofa on order. I'm resisting painting or doing anything else until it comes, I'm assuming we will have the dominos effect for paint, rugs, accessories. I think your home has come together beautifully, and yes, the two pillows finish off the loveseat covering perfectly, muting the earthtones and unifying the 'look'. Still so homey and comfy looking which is of course the most important! Hugs, Sandi
ReplyDeletethanks so much Sandi. Oh, I want to see that new sofa. That's a fun "domino effect". Your smart to wait till it arrives before doing any painting etc. Hope you're having a great week!
DeleteI love your umbrella with flowers.
ReplyDeleteHi Debra, no snow here. Only sunshine (sorry). I have been wanting some black and white pillows for awhile, just haven't gotten around to it. Amazon in a great place for pillows for great prices. Love the unbrella (I misspelled that but thought it might be appropriate by chance). So pretty on the cupboard door. Love the Garden pillow and quilt too..Stay well..xxoJudy
ReplyDeleteIt's all so light bright and cheery! I love the pillow choice, and love that quilt! Your snow pics are gorgeous too! J.
ReplyDeleteHi Debra! Love your love of pillows. Hope you are doing well!
ReplyDeleteYour garden room looks so inviting Debra! I love anything Buffalo Checked and your pillows are perfect. Our weather has been crazy too and I am really over the snow now. It's supposed to be in the 70's this weekend though so I've got my fingers crossed they're right this time. Have a great day!
ReplyDeleteI love the buffalo check, but the rest looks stunning too. Great job
ReplyDeleteDebra, I love visiting your home, there is always so much goodness to see and take in. Buffalo checks are a timeless way to decorate and work right in with all the other vintage pieces - including your kitty ;)
ReplyDeleteThanks for adding all your fun posts to the FWF link party.
Debra, your garden room is so inviting. The tan buffalo check pillows are perfect.
ReplyDeleteHappy Mother's Day,
