It's Almost Easter in the Holiday Cupboard

It seems like just yesterday that I put away all the St. Patrick's Day goodies... oh yeh, that was only last week wasn't it? Ok, so it's a quick turnaround for Easter this year. I really like it when Easter is more toward the end of April instead of the beginning.  That gives us more time not only to decorate, but to enjoy the decor, color, and be able to putz around. My sheep and rabbits stick around for the rest of Spring, but Easter is the prime time for anything bunny related.

I have to admit, Fall, Christmas, and Easter are my favorite
seasonal times to decorate the Holiday Cupboard.
The pastel colors of Spring are so much fun
to incorporate with the green transferware,
ivy dishes, and vintage ironstone pieces.
The vintage rabbits, majolica and ephemera
all bring color and special memories to the groupings.

There have been times, like our last move, that I momentarily
thought about purging some of my more "cutesy" bric-a-brac.
I admire lovely blogs where all they show are beautiful dishes in a cabinet
or massive amounts of ironstone with not a resin bunny in sight.
But... that's just not me. Each one of those cutesy little rabbits,
eggs, or cardboard pieces hold a memory of Easter's past
and decorating with my girls when they were young.

Some pieces are family related, some are from flea markets,
but each one puts a smile on my face and sweetness in my heart.

I began collecting Easter related pieces when my girls were little
and we found the Beatrix Potter books and memorabilia in the early 80's.

Then when I started selling vintage goods,
I'd pick up small Easter and Spring related goodies.

What can I say?
I really love itsy-bitsy things.

I have some fun vintage vignettes here in the Garden Room
with a few old friends that have been packed away for awhile.

I'll share more of the Garden Room next week.

Did you catch my last post?

Hope you're having a wonderful week!

  1. I love how this looks! I too decorate for every season and holiday. I just love keeping everything new, not getting too used to what I have up day after day. The moss "O" is right up my alley. Great job. I'm glad I found you on the Wonderful Wednesday link party at Eclectic Red Barn! Visiting from LifeasaLEOWife.com.

  2. I love seeing your cupboard! It looks like part of a real home, not one of these sterile, bland, places. I love it that you have things that represent memories. Thank you!

  3. Debra, I am with you about itty bitty things. I even use the word "little" to the extreme. It is just a good feeling. All your Easter looks so pretty. I didn't do too much but I do have to have a little bit of bunnies out..Stay well..xxoJudy

  4. Sweet memories come out to visit....the BEST reason for decorating! I love the connection to your girls - same era mine were growing up. I do love spring but this year I had a lighter hand at it, probably because of the closeness between March 17 and April 4. I mostly just used a few florals and birds, just a couple bunnies. They still make me smile though. :)

  5. Good morning Debra....I don't really decorate for each holiday. But, I so much enjoy looking at ladies who do and the stories that come with.

  8. Debra, love how you can put together an entire holiday vintage vignette each month. It's always fun taking in each piece.
Congratulations, you are being featured at the Friday with Friends link party.
