Celebrating Advent in the Entry

It's easy to let the fun and busy-ness of the Holidays to take over, and before we know it the Santas and Snowmen and Elves have decorated our homes and heads at Christmas. I know I love to decorate every room, and sometimes I need a spot that I can focus on for the real meaning of Christmas. So when Amber from Follow the Yellow Brick Home invited us to a Hop that celebrates Advent I knew I would love to participate. Thankyou Amber! If you're coming from Marty at A Stroll Thru Life, Hello, I'm so glad you came by.

A few years ago I ordered a copy of a mother and child print
of a painting from my absolute favorite artist, William-Adolphe Bouguereau.
His work is so life-like and earthy, and one of the things I loved most about this print
is the lamb she is cradling along with the baby.
It has always spoken to my heart in a profoundly spiritual way.

I try to pick up vintage frames whenever I can find one at a good price.
This one has a lot of missing gesso pieces around the edges,
but it was the perfect size and dimensions for the print,
that I look forward to using each Christmas.

Sorry for the glass and glare

My husband bought me this snow globe years ago
that is also a music box which plays "Away in a Manger".
It's out each year as a reminder to celebrate the Birth of Jesus.

It's easy to "over-decorate" this console in the Entry. So I've not used much,
just wanting the print to express the Christmas message.

I'm using my vintage-look "oatmeal tree" with a few hydrangeas mixed in.
This "sheep" candle is sometimes hard to recognize since it's a little shaggy.

My little metal sheep paperweight is always here on the console.

More than a message of Peace on Earth,
I think of this as the Peace in our hearts as we know Our Heavenly Father.

I hope you'll continue visiting the group
and visit Cindy at County Road 407 by clicking on the links below.

Did you know that "Advent" means "arrival,
and the coming of an event?
One of my favorite pieces of Christmas scripture...

Matthew 1:22  All this took place to fulfill what the Lord had said through the prophet: "The virgin will be with child and will give birth to a son, and they will call Him Immanuel, which means, God with us".

May you know Him as the Savior,
Merry Christmas,

  7. How fabulous to have a manger globe! I've never seen one and love it. And how nice to have a hubs that knows how to get gifts. If I don't show mine a photo with where to get it, I can forget it. The verse at the end is a fave. I have always loved His name - Immanuel. Love that song too! It's always fun hopping with you. Hope you have a blessed Christmas
