Scenes from the Late Summer Baker's Rack

I always get itchy when mid-August rolls around; itchy to start thinking about decorating for Fall. Now, I realize we have at least another month of summertime weather, but toward the end of August the signs of nature start to swing toward Autumn.

So I'm sharing a few more pics of "late-summer" in the Garden Room before it's gone. I changed up the Baker's Rack right after July 4th, and brought out a few summer-y garden themed items, like my Hull Apple Stove set and cookie jar. I've mentioned before that this sat on my grandmother's stove top and counter when I was very little. I think they started making these back in the 30's, so it had been around for awhile by the time I was growing up.

This little Majolica apple canister doesn't have a mark on the bottom,
but it's not home-made ceramic because I've seen these in multiple.

I did make an effort to straighten up the bottoms shelf.
What is it with me and bottom shelves?
I guess it's where my "inner clutter" lurks.
Or maybe I just don't like to crawl around on the floor.

I'm not sure why the itty bitty plant saucer is there on the bench. (below)
I guess I just didn't check my photos critically.
Heaven knows I've looked at this photo a million times
and am just now noticing it has a photo bomb.

The Holiday Cupboard for late-summer.

...there's the saucer again, eeeck.
Like I've said before. edit, edit, edit.

  1. So Cute. I use to have an apple cookie jar just like yours. Unfortunately, I had to sell it years ago.

  3. Love your seasonal displays, Debra. That Hull set is a classic, and I rarely see it these days. Love the majolica cookie jar too. Lol, I put my big seed box on my bottom shelf so I won't mess with it, but you should see what I have stuffed INside it!
I started switching things up for fall too! Had to make a run to the storage unit for things for the booths (even already looking toward Christmas for that), so why not?

  4. I always love seeing your bakers rack. It's always such a treat. I saw some apple canisters just like that before lock down. So cute. Your little flower book is adorable. Precious.

As soon as I saw the apple set, I have to stop by and visit!! I have the same set, minus the large cookie jar and I display it in my Kitchen hutch! Thanks for letting me know the back ground on it!! I bought mine at a church flea market for $2.00!!
    Stay safe, healthy and happy!!

  7. What a gorgeous late summer sunroom. I just love all the apples and vintage potting stuff. Too funny about the bottom shelf:) I'm the same way. And I do think it's because I don't enjoy crawling around on the floor! Thanks for sharing at Vintage Charm. xo Kathleen

  8. Debra, I feel terrible for Marty losing her sweet husband... More prayers for her continued recovery and for God to keep sending angels and friends and family to her aide and comfort. <3 Our country is having a really hard time of it... We had our first day with kiddos at school today... Wondering and praying that when I was so ill last winter, when there were no tests for Covid-19, that I've already had it. If that wasn't it, how will our older teachers/aides survive this as it runs through our nation's (really, the world's) schools??

Thank you for sharing your beautiful sunroom again and your pretty baker's rack with your great grandmother's lovely apple canisters! They are beauties!!! Happy to feature them this week at SYS #270 this evening. <3

Stay cool and well, and thank you for your thoughts about yesterday's Pinterest Challenge cloche vignette!
    Barb :)
