Garden Room in August Color

Hey friends, can you believe it's August?
In some ways this year has seemed like forever,
and in other ways it's flying by.
Time for some late Summer color here in the Garden Room.

When I think of August and late Summer, chickens always come to mind. (not sure why exactly) So when I started thinking about changing up the little bench/coffee table here in the Garden Room, my chickens were begging to come hang out.

Here's my momma and baby vintage chalk chickens.

I'm using my white crate/tray here with the chickens
filled with my red transferware teapot and vintage canister with ivy.

I'm using a mustard gold French-y floral quilted coverlet

(that needs to be straightened) layered on my white matelasse spread.

Indigo ticking with florals paired with a hand embroidered and hand painted vintage pillow.

Ticking goes with everything and always seems to show up here on the wicker settee,

no matter what the season.

Speaking of seasons, I'm always so surprised when people start being upset in August
when those of us that love and look forward to Fall mention it.
Yes, Fall is my favorite time of year. No apologies.
I love the cooler weather, the beautiful Autumnal color,
the coziness and home-y-ness that it brings.
I'm not living in the future or not enjoying my day-to-day life.
Just looking forward to a much beloved time in the year.

If you missed the Holiday Cupboard with Crockery
last week then you can catch it here.

You all have seen this old beat up watering can many times before,
but now I'm using it here with daisies and black-eyed susans.
A sweet little black/white ribbon goes perfectly
with Summer's gold, black and white.

Sweet hanging heart with birdie transfer
on the knob of the Holiday Cupboard.

I'll be adding in some darker harvest colors soon.
There are so many seasonal looks,
so it is with Summer.
The rest of the August Garden Room
will be here soon.

To be honest I've been fighting with the new Blogger editor for hours now.
I finally switched back to the old editor and it was still buggy.
I'm worn out wrangling it,
so if you see spaces, underlines, wrong colors of text and wonky pics
then chalk it up to that.

We're having a little cool down which has been so nice.
How's your week going?

  2. Ah, I still haven't done anything...you are so ambitious. Yet, I'm in the yard everyday...just dead heading and trimming with watering seems to be a full time job. LOL, but I WILL get the porch switched to summer...LOL. So pretty, and I really do love the warm yellows in your room. Hugs, Sandi

  3. I'm with you! I love fall so much and it's a benefit for us bloggers that do since we decorate earlier than everyone else. Love your August Garden room. The golds and sweet chickens say come on in and sit a spell.

  4. I believe your garden room featured this time with the chickens, white tray, etc. is my favorite. I love all of the colors on the wicker seat. We just had the tropical storm/hurricane and tornadoes. Our home was spared, but we have friends who lost their homes due to one of the tornadoes. I am looking forward to fall and relief from the heat and humidity. Fall colors are so soothing.

  5. Hi Debra. It all looks so pretty and summery. I love how you always have a little quilt of different colors on your cute sofa. I'm with you about fall. Just because we like fall doesn't mean that we are wishing the summer away. I'm also with you about the new blogger. I first had no problems and thought that was strange for me! but now I do find little breaks and spaces that are hard to figure out. Still can't figure out the reasoning behind having it..Stay well..xxoJudy
