August in the Cookbook Cupboard

I don't change up the "cookbook nook" cupboard as much as some of my other spots, but I do like to keep it seasonal. Lately I've been sharing some of my vintage chick-a-doodles that are meandering around the house. Last year they liked this spot, so I thought I'd bring a few back and share it's late-summer look.

At the last house I kept my wooden monogram on the mantel,
but here it's usually a backdrop for the top of the little cupboard.
The chalkboard really sets it off.

A vintage marmalade crock has a small faux bouquet
of late summer flowers on top of my old kitchen scale.

more antique crockery...

I have a bunch of old wooden and paper mache trays that are in seasonal colors.
I'm still using the summery floral one here on the first shelf.

Some of my English Cottage kitchen pieces are in here, too.

One of my little chalk chickens is nesting
in a collapsible vintage metal egg basket.

I've mentioned before that I can be a bit messy in some things,
and by the looks of the bottom shelf my cookbooks need a little "straighten-up".

Hope you'll come by Monday evening.

  3. Gasp! A messy shelf! I LOVE it that you shared your cute little cupboard with us anyway! So often, bloggers come across as "perfect." I read a blog recently where the blogger said she'd been editing out an ugly light fixture for months, but she finally got it changed, so now she could show us. I really like it when you all keep it "real." It's encouraging to me that even with all your beautiful homes, you all are really human, too, like us common folk. :-D I love those old jugs and your flock of chickens is really cute. Have a great day, and THANK YOU for sharing!

    1. Hi Marilyn, thankyou! haha, you should see my office, it's usually a mess! I tend to make piles of stuff that needs to be put away, and my desk is a mess. I think I have too much stuff and not enough places to sort/keep it!

  4. That's cute, Debra. My group of crocks and whisk broom collections are STILL in storage. So are my hens. {sigh} With not having as much in home storage, I have to really think about what I feel like toting back and forth, unwrapping & displaying. Dishes seem to win every time, lol.
