This was early April Easter/Spring 2020
On the other side of the Entry hall.
The easiest way to make a seasonal change here is with a framed print. Since it's early summer, I brought out one of my vintage prints of an English Country Garden full of fresh pastel flowers. This vintage print in the original frame, is signed G Blanchard Carr who was a pseudonym for the famous illustrator and artist R. Atkinson Fox from the early 20th Century.
Atkinson Fox was a prolific illustrator and painter in the early 1900's until the mid-thirties.
He covered a lot of subjects, using different names. He went by the name of Carr
when he was painting English gardens.
My little vintage bluebird bud vase matches the summer colors in the print.
He just makes me have a big smile on my face.

I usually have my urn full of faux paperwhites here on the console, but I thought I'd bring out a bunch of white summer blooms to give it a more lush look. Geraniums, viburnum, and hydrangeas are all together till it's time for the sunflowers to show up in mid-summer.
Another change on the console is the Gothic window that I found earlier this year. I finally got around to adding a bit of white chalk paint, and now it blends a little better with the rest of the whitewashed wood.
The bottom shelf usually stays the same with this gray metal tabletop conservatory
and a wicker funeral basket with a grapevine bird nest.
I've really missed getting out to the antique and vintage markets and shops. I'm having to shop my house and dig through the storage room for goodies. Hopefully, before long I'll be able to do some more sorting and organizing to see for sure what I do have. That's a big project that I've been waiting to feel up to doing.
I love seeing this light and bright area that welcomes.
June always feels lush, fresh and green; full of promise and optimism.
I think we all need a little of that right now.

thankyou dear Kris, same to you!!
DeleteDebra, your entry is lovely and so welcoming. The console table is gorgeous! Happy weekend.
ReplyDeleteI did not know that about R Atkinson Fox! Thanks for the info. I have bought and sold his prints before, though. Your entry is just right with summer lightness.
ReplyDeleteI didn't realize that either, Rita until I started doing some digging on him a few years ago. I was trying to get info on all the paintings that were being done in the early 1900's and found out it was Fox who was painting under different names. so interesting!
DeleteYour entry and table are so beautiful! I love the way you layered the window over the mirror - so pretty!
