Happy Mother's Day and a Blog Note.

Hi Friends, I'm hoping you're having a lovely Mother's Day, even though it might not look like usual. It's a beautiful sunshine-y day around here so that helps brighten the mood. I told my girls we would just put off celebrating till we could hopefully all be together sometime this summer. I think we're all feeling a little isolated. I just cannot take any chances even though our town is opening back up this week. It may be awhile till I get back out there to public places. I also plan on wearing a mask.

Since I'm 8 weeks overdue on having my cervical spine surgery I haven't physically felt like celebrating much of anything. I did celebrate getting to my hair salon. I wear my hair short and go every 4 weeks, so going 8 weeks without a haircut left me looking terribly shaggy. My stylist and her gals were all decked out and the disinfectant was being sprayed around liberally and diligently. I hadn't driven anywhere on my own since my last appointment in March, so it felt really weird to be out on the streets. I think I drove 20 mph. But I did feel safe. Now to get my husband in for a trim. He has great hair and can go for much longer without looking derelict.

I have a few pics here of my little vintage figural shepherdess lamp that I recently painted white. I'd been thinking about giving her a makeover for years but hesitated to change her. But a cat went bonkers right after we moved here and knocked her off of her usual spot on the Baker's Rack, causing a few more chips and gouges. She badly needed a fresh look.

Finally Good News... my surgery is scheduled for this week so I'll be gone from the blog for a few days. I don't really know what to expect on recovery time. I've read and watched several patient experiences and none are the same, but it couldn't be much worse than it has been recently. They say a sore neck and sore throat for several days; liquid and soft foods for 3-5 days. I'll try to check back in with you all when I'm up to sitting in front of the computer. Thankyou in advance for your prayers and positivity. I'm believing God's got this in control. Celebrate Mother's Day safely. love to you all...

  9. Prayers and good wishes for a complete recovery. I'm a spinal surgery veteran and in the almost eight years since my surgery I managed to visit six continents. Should have been seven, but my visit to Morocco was canceled for last week.

  14. Oh Debra I have been praying for this news to come, I will keep you in my thoughts and prayers and wish you a speedy recovery! My hairdresser called today and said she didn't want to work in her salon yet, she's too afraid, so she offered to come to my house and do my and my daughter's hair, woo hoo! She's going to trim my son and son in law, and 2 of my grands too! Weather permitting, we are going to set up our family salon on the patio :)
    Best wishes,
    Jenna
