French Country Elements in the Dining Room

My focus on getting back in the decor groove after the Holidays has been on my Dining Room table. At the beginning of the New Year I tend to want to go with more neutral elements since I'm usually oversaturated with color from Christmas. I've been gathering inspiration for a French Country Farmhouse feel that I could use in my Dining Room without going shopping.

Here is some wonderful inspiration from Pinterest that gave me a few ideas for a new look this early January. It's winter, so I wanted to keep that "winter-y" feel with texture and color. Some of these photos are not located on a table, but would work equally well as a centerpiece or grouping.

You will see photos from Edith and Evelyn Vintage over and over. Cindy's blog is a perfect expression of French Country. She and her husband have just moved from Missouri to Alabama, so be sure and visit her and her new home when you can.

When most people look at a design, they can immediately sense whether it feels right, but might not know why. Often times, the feeling of whether something is right is determined by a design's balance. Balance is easy to spot when it's symmetrical, or a mirror image, such as two matching lamps on the entryway, an identical arrangement of seating on two sides of a room or candlesticks on a mantle.
