Hello Everyone,
Welcome to the Embracing Fall Blog Hop!
Our good friend and Hop Hostess Amber, from Follow the Yellow Brick Home has gathered some of us together to celebrate our love of Fall. If you're coming from Christi's beautiful Fall Porch at Our Southern Home, so glad you're here and following this fun Hop. Of course I'm super excited to be participating in this Hop, because well... Fall is my absolute Favorite Time of Year! Thankyou Amber for putting together all this inspiration!
We're finally seeing some real Fall weather here in SW Missouri, and that helps to get into the serious all out fun of Fall. One of my favorite spots to decorate for the seasons has always been the place where my white wicker settee tends to be. Two houses ago it was a Sun Porch, last house was the Kitchen Sitting Room, and now I have a Sun Room/Garden Room.
A vignette on my coffee table/bench is anchored with a large vintage amber bottle that is filled with preserved Fall leaves, a candle in a small olive bucket and some Fall produce. I haven't been able to find any real Bittersweet this year, but I salvaged a small piece that was leftover from last season.
We really enjoy this space as it's a nice open transition from the main part of the house to the backporch. It has windows on three walls and usually has good light and makes for a great spot for morning coffee. This room is completely neutral and that makes the perfect backdrop for beautiful seasonal colors.
I love dressing up the wicker settee for Fall using old quilts and pillows that coordinate. I change this spot up frequently throughout the seasons. Last month I used a small Fall plaid as the base, and after October vintage plaid Fall Pendleton and Scottish blankets will be here.
When we first moved here earlier in the year my old Pie Safe was just a hold-all for ironstone, pottery, and knick-knacks. It was disorganized and hodge-podge, and in no way would I have opened the doors for anyone to look at. But this Summer I realized it was time to get with it and bring out the Brown Transferware and Fall goodies for display.
A stack of vintage metal lunch baskets with a favorite little squirrel buddy on top.
He's a paper mache box, where the squirrel lifts off the stump.
A vintage tote/carrier holds some old Johnson Bros. transferware and a pottery teapot.
I love color, but it's always on top of a neutral base.
For Christmas this room will have a seasonal color palette,
and the orange will be long gone.
This little Baker's rack has been with me over 30 years
and it's always fun for seasonal dishes and vintage garden related items.
A vintage grain sack covers my white wicker chair
with Fall pillows and color.
A certain someone uses this chair for an afternoon nap.
She loves the Garden Room and spends most of her time out here.
If she's lucky she can eyeball the squirrels, chipmunks and birds.
This is the closest she gets to outdoors, but she doesn't really know otherwise.
Do you have a favorite spot in your home to decorate for the seasons?
where you'll find tons of Fall Inspiration.
Thanks so much for coming by and I hope you'll follow the Hop for more ideas and inspiration. Be sure and head on over to Laura's at Decor to Adore and see how she's Embracing Fall at her Storybook Cottage.

ReplyDeleteOh this is such a lovely space, Debra! I am in love with the picnic tins and squirrel vignette! And I love how the amber bottle looks with leaves! You have created a wonderful space for fall!
ReplyDeleteDebra I could linger for hours at your home taking in all the vintage treasures! Your garden rooms are always a treat and I still look back at your older garden room posts for inspiration. I am loving how you have put your stylish stamp on the garden room at your new home. The little squirrel caught my eye right away along with those amazing metal picnic baskets. The cabinet is styled so beautifully with treasure I would move straight from your cabinet into mine.
ReplyDeleteGreat textiles on the settee as usual and the baker's rack is delightful. You certainly can do fall my friend! Even the little bit of salvaged bittersweet is a wonderful rustic touch.
Thank you so much for embracing fall with us!
Debra, I have always enjoyed the way you add seasonal touches to your home, and especially your sun room. It is always bright and welcoming. I'm eyeing your little squirrel. Funny how the eye goes to something specific. He is adorable!
ReplyDeleteHi Debra! Your garden room looks perfectly appointed for fall. I adore your coffee table vignette with the rich colors of fall foliage, and that quilt really caught my eye. The neutral background really creates the perfect setting to decorate with autumn colors. I'm happy to be on this tour with you!

I was going to skip by your post until I saw "my" old metal picnic basket (in the middle of the squirrel pile). Mine now holds Christmas cards, but as a child, it held sandwiches (usually bologna or pickle/pimento loaf on cheap white bread), etc. when we went on picnics--often fishing. Your pie safe disiplay is just lovely! Love your fall colors.
ReplyDeleteI'm in love with that amber glass bottle! It just adds something so special to this scene. I would love to curl up on that couch with a good book ALL DAY!
ReplyDeleteLoved this post this year as much as last year!
ReplyDeleteI've been waiting for fall to come to your garden room! It is always so gorgeous but especially so this time of year. I am just in love with your little squirrel too. What an absolutely perfect spot for him! Thanks for the inspiration and have a wonderful week.
