Fall Vignette on the Washstand

I have a favorite little corner in the Dining Room that's not easily seen from the rest of the house. It's only visible if you walk from the kitchen to the Dining Room, but it has some very sweet vintage pieces. The washstand with the marble top was in my childhood home, right inside our Entry at the old farmhouse. I've had it for the last almost 20 years, and finally painted it a few years ago to become the lovely little cabinet that it is today.

The Dining Room is a very neutral space, so I love using seasonal color 

to keep the look fresh and updated.

The petite silver tray was gifted to me from my sister a few years ago.

 It had been one of many silver pieces from her mother-in-law's estate.

The mirror, French bust and the urn that it sits in,

and the ironstone tureen have been collected over time.

The Fall twig wreath was something I put together years and years ago, but it seems to change up a little every few years. It's just the right size to tuck into a bookcase or cabinet or to hang on a mirror.

After taking photos earlier, I came back and wanted to get a close-up of my little French Girl, 

so I thought I'd give her a little seasonal ribbon to enhance her lovely little neck. 

The base of the bust was broken when I found her,

so she sits nestled in a vintage chalk urn.

I always enjoy tweaking this little corner.

A lot of people don't see it,

but I always enjoy the details and changing color.

We've finally had a few good steady rains here, and the weather has cooled off into the 70's with a few days in the low 80's. It's such a refreshing change. We live in an older neighborhood with a wonderful variety of lovely mature trees. It's a joy to just drive down the street, and the view from our front and back porches is park-like. I'm really looking forward to enjoying Autumn here at this house. Last year we were working here every weekend, but leaf peeping wasn't our main focus. It will be this year!
