The Dining Room is a very neutral space, so I love using seasonal color
to keep the look fresh and updated.
The petite silver tray was gifted to me from my sister a few years ago.
It had been one of many silver pieces from her mother-in-law's estate.
The mirror, French bust and the urn that it sits in,
and the ironstone tureen have been collected over time.
After taking photos earlier, I came back and wanted to get a close-up of my little French Girl,
so I thought I'd give her a little seasonal ribbon to enhance her lovely little neck.
The base of the bust was broken when I found her,
so she sits nestled in a vintage chalk urn.
I always enjoy tweaking this little corner.
A lot of people don't see it,
but I always enjoy the details and changing color.
We've finally had a few good steady rains here, and the weather has cooled off into the 70's with a few days in the low 80's. It's such a refreshing change. We live in an older neighborhood with a wonderful variety of lovely mature trees. It's a joy to just drive down the street, and the view from our front and back porches is park-like. I'm really looking forward to enjoying Autumn here at this house. Last year we were working here every weekend, but leaf peeping wasn't our main focus. It will be this year!

I think your girl bust is the first statue I've ever seen who had a pretty face. She's really beautiful. Thanks for sharing her and your sweet washstand heirloom.
ReplyDeletethankyou Judy, she really does have one of the most detailed and sweet faces I've seen. I wish I knew how old she was and her origins. have a great rest of the week.
DeleteLove the washstand painted! Looks fabulous! I love how paint can take something wonderful and turn it into something fabulous. I love the way you decorate!
ReplyDeleteAlways inspiring to stop by your place, Debra! I love the way you write along with the things you share in your home. Beautiful!

Debra,
ReplyDeleteA beautiful Autumnal vignette on your heirloom washstand!
Love the petite wreath that you tweak each Season!
I adore the embellishment on the French Girl bust!
Like you, I am so~o~o ready for the out~of~doors Season to change.
I have been very fortunate to view "green" the entire Summer!
A first for my side of the Prairie!
Enjoy those gorgeous trees turning to various hues of Autumn.
I say a wishful prayer that the wind gently blows the leaves away from your lawn!

Love the washstand Debra and your sweet french girl. We are still having summer weather here in Illinois. Next week they are saying the temps will be in the high 80's for a few days. Summer just does not wan to let go of us here. I am ok with it because we all know what is coming!!!
ReplyDeleteHugs,
Kris
Well you have so many lovely things in this corner. The tones are wonderful, including that little framed print in the chippy frame. My kind of thing. Love the mirror and the pretty girl bust. Everyone should have a beautiful little chest of drawers like yours. No wonder it is favorite spot for you! Happy autumn days!
ReplyDeleteIt's darling. A perfect corner. I love the mirror.
ReplyDeleteAll wonderful treasures, but the little French girl and the mirror are my favorites. Love the necklace too!
ReplyDeleteOh, I love your little French girl!
ReplyDeleteI absolutely LOVE this vignette, Debra! I think I already commented but I couldn't help but leave another comment as I just noticed how you decorated your lady statuette: with a little tissue paper découpaged onto the lower part of the bust! I know she took a fall at some point, but she is truly still beautiful! Maybe even more so now that she has a few miles and cracks on her face (like us all!). <3
ReplyDeleteHappy to have featured your post this week (#227) of Share Your Style,
Hugs,
Barb :)
p.s. I'll try and remember to stop by for Monday's party. I forget about them now that I am working... ugh! ;)
Debra, I'd like to borrow a photo of your little maiden statue, if you are alright with it, for a post about decorating statues for the seasons? I'm just beginning the post, and of course it'll be linked! I can let you know when it goes live. :)
ReplyDeletePlease let me know if this is okay with you, thank you!
Hugs,
Barb :)
Hello Debra, I just created the post I was thinking of making ~ Decorate Your Angelic Statuettes for the Seasons. It'll link up in tonight's Share Your Style #232. I hadn't heard back so I hope it was alright to use your photograph (extra publicity!). <3
DeleteHappy hugs to you,
Barb :)
