This is my first post since we moved in last week, and it's been a busy week for sure. We did this move in stages and it really paid off in our ability to make the transition much easier than other moves. All the interior remodeling has been done and the house was clean and ready with most of the furniture here in place. The best part is that it already felt like "Home". The sun came out today, so I grabbed my camera and took advantage of some wonderful soft Northern light.
One area that came together easily here is the Entry. I wanted to do something a little different, but with being so busy and such a cold winter I just haven't been out to do any shopping. I would like to find an antique cabinet or small dresser, but for now I'm keeping this console that I've been using for about 8 years in several different houses. I really love it and it's the perfect size for the space. (Did you notice the lampshade is actually straight for once?) The Entry is light and bright with side door windows that keep it from being dreary.
I've had my vintage gray shutters behind this mirror and on the console since my husband bought this for me. But here against the striped wallpaper they looked too busy. This is "busy" enough, I'm trying to cut down on some of that visual clutter.
I'm using the same elements on the console as before the move, but as I get more things unpacked I hope to change things up a bit for Spring. The rabbits and the little wooden Frenchy wagon are planning on making an appearance soon.
If you subscribe to my email notifications I apologize that you received a duplicate notice a week late. My desk top computer had been here at the new house since the end of January without Internet access, so when we hooked it up somehow it caused an automatic notice to be sent out.
The first few days we were here I was literally worn out mentally, physically, and emotionally; I felt a little like a zombie on autopilot. I've been hard to live with this last year because of all the health problems and stress, but I'm feeling a sense of peace starting to take over. My Birthday was yesterday, and it was one of the best I've had for awhile. I feel a new since of direction and more settled in my spirit. We just worked around the house, but it was nice to get things accomplished and feel like we're making progress... here at the new place and with life in general.
my view in the Hearth Room, taking a break.
It's been a long time coming.
It's nice to not have to use phone pics!
I'll be back soon.

DeleteI have commented on the console in the past, and I must say, I still LOVE it! So happy you are moved in and all the preparatory work has paid off. I know that boxes and bits will continue to be unpacked along the way....but you're living there and can take your time. I do think your new house is beautiful.
ReplyDeletethankyou Carol, I'm still happy with the way the entry turned out, but I think I'm ready for a little change. But I'm going to take my time to find just the right piece. thanks for your encouragement!

DeleteHappy Birthday! Your entryway looks so bright and inviting. So glad it's already starting to feel like home. Too funny about the lamp shade (I have the same problem lol). xo Kathleen
ReplyDeleteHi Kathleen, thankyou! I looked at the picture again, and it's a little crooked, so my lampshade was probably STILL off, haha.
DeleteHi Debra! I missed your birthday, so Happy Belated Birthday! It is so exciting to see your home coming together with your signature style. I love this entry way and the table is amazing. I really love the striped wallpaper. I just picked up some neutral striped pillow covers for my church pew.
