A Look at Winter Neutrals

Hi Friends, I'll be sharing how I do Neutral Winter Decor along with a great group of bloggers in a Hop next week. (my post is on Wednesday) But today I'm going to give you a little taste of what's going on here, with a few ideas and details.

Before Christmas I knew I wanted to decorate a little more simply, by doing a "Winter Decor" base and just adding some "Christmas" decor on top. I love doing a "nature look" for Christmas with Greens, berries, and florals, so it was a much easier change out after the Holidays.

I always use a lot of red and Tartan Plaid for Christmas, then added a layer of faux evergreens and florals. So removing the floral elements and the reds makes it easy to get down to the basics of a Neutral Decor.

You can see that I've kept a lot of the basics from Christmas, like the Ironstone Tureen, small white Lanterns and Mercury Glass votives. I've just cleaned it up a little and pulled out most of the "color".

In the Entry Hall I've pared down, and swapped out the print and the Christmas Ribbon
for a more neutral wired plaid ribbon around the same grouping of Paperwhites.

I put together a new little vignette of moss and nests in one of my wicker baskets
under the Entry console.

In the Living Room the coffee table stayed close to the same as Christmas, I still have the white wicker demi-john and the Hurricane candle holder surrounded by evergreens.

I put away the Red Toile pillows and brought out warmer colors
with Leopard Print pillows, and a Leopard Print Throw on my ottoman.

The Mantel got a little de-cluttering also, by taking off the lights and red Christmas berries. So now I am down to the basics, with some chippy wooden elements and my favorite combo for winter; hydrangeas and evergreens.

Winter Whites and Neutrals can still be warm and cozy when you use different textures and vary your paint colors. There are so many different shades of "whites", grays, and "mushroom". Don't feel like you have to keep things all one color.

Be sure you keep a few of your old friends with you, too.

A Blog Hop is a fun way to get to know "new to you" blogs, so be sure to come back on Monday for the list for the week. You'll also get to see the bigger pics! stay warm, it's way to cold outside,

  5. It's all very beautiful and perfect for winter Debra! I have a large white lantern with a black top. I've toyed with the idea of painting the top white as well. You just won me over. :)
