Christmas Lite

Hi friends, I hope you all are having a good week before Thanksgiving. Last week I was on a roll getting out the basics for Christmas. Of course bringing out Christmas decor requires putting away all the Fall decor, first. That's not near as much fun as getting it all out, so I'm doing a little at a time. I found a mid size white-washed olive bucket and the perfect size faux tabletop tree last week at the Christmas Open houses. So today, I just wanted to share the little spot in the kitchen sitting area where they landed.

I'm letting things settle a bit before I start adding in more "Christmas". I can't get too "full on" until after Thanksgiving. This way I have time to think about what I want to do, but I keep getting the feeling it needs to be "Christmas Lite" this year.

I've already decided that I'm not dragging the full size tree out this year and decorating it. It's not a case of "Bah Humbug", It's just a big job for just me and hubby, when we only spend one evening celebrating here with the family. My sis and her husband generously have Thanksgiving and Christmas family dinners at their lovely home, so I'm going to keep things simple around here... at least as simple as I know how to do.

I added a little white printed burlap ribbon and some white mini lights.

As I said, these are just the basics and I'm just getting started,
so I'm sure I'll add some other vintage things in,
as it rounds the corner toward Christmas.

Bringing out the Red Transferware is one tradition that I really enjoy.

..and piling on the plaids!

I'm going through the faux greenery today.
Hopefully I'll make some progress.

Have a great weekend!

  3. Debra, that vignette in your sitting room is perfect. Like you, I started UNdecorating, but that quickly got sidetracked into cleaning the whole downstairs flooring and shelf surfaces. Seems with leaves falling and crunching, more dirt gets tracked in, ugh. I'm also piling on the plaids, and bringing out the reds, the only time of year when I go all-out. I'm trying to be careful with what I'm putting out to start, but I do get excited with Christmas. I decided to put away a few more of my standard, all-season decor to make room for all the Christmas I want out. It's fun, like styling the booth spaces at the mall. :)
    Have a great weekend.

  4. Debra, I love the tree in the olive bucket, the pretty burlap ribbon and the plaid, all nestled in that fabulous wooden crate. I always say I'm keeping it simple and never do. I've already put up two trees and I'm plotting what to do next! LOL!
    Happy Thanksgiving.

    hugs,
    Sissie

  8. Your sitting area already looks ready for Christmas! Your little tree is perfect for that corner and I know you've got enough festive items that a big tree won't even be missed. Loving all the plaid and your wreath in the background. Enjoy!

    1. Hi Claire, My sis made them for me several years ago, but I did see a couple of vendors on Etsy that have similar ones available to order. I love them, so much fun and so versatile for the Holidays.

  11. Debra, it's always fun to see what you share in your home. I know it will be special and very festive even without a large tree. I had someone help me bring my boxed tree downstairs this morning. It's still boxed, but I hope to put it up over the weekend. I'm excited to get it out each year. It is a lot of time and effort, but my sitting in front of the sparkling lights make it worth it. Happy Holidays!
