Hi Everyone, I'm always surprised at how fast summer flies by. This weekend will start a wonderful extended weekend for many of us, lot's of family and casual fun inside and out, so here are a few photos of one of my favorite Holidays, Independence Day!
Do you need some instant Holiday decor to celebrate the 4th? Vintage flags have always been how I've been able to bring the colors and nostalgic feel into any room or setting. A few years ago, I draped one of my vintage dress forms in a large antique "retired" flag and she became one of my favorite pieces.."Clad in Liberty".
I filled an old vintage window box full of white Geraniums and added more vintage flags for a Patriotic centerpiece on my then Dining Room table.
Here, my antique church pew is covered in a matalasse coverlet and draped with a vintage flag and a handmade goosedown filled ticking pillow with appliqued flag.
Here's a little antique milk carrier filled with fresh flowers in red/white/blue,
some seed packets, and two tiny parade flags.
Our "new house", the first year we lived here, Mr. Mouton and an antique frame with a Country French wallpaper backing helped set the mood.
An old tool carrier filled with vintage kitchen tools are on the little bench.
Old bottles decoupaged with vintage July 4th motifs and old flags,
were used for ivy snippets to set a Holiday table.
First year here...
...and last year.
This little outdoor setting was from about 2012.
Layered vintage tablecloths and linens set with Blue Transferware.
Scenes from the Patriotic Sunporch from about the same time.
My favorite vintage decor piece for the 4th is an old watering can painted red,
and an old Cemetery Flag that was placed to honor all the Veterans.
Vintage goods always make an easy way to set a Holiday mood.
I'll catch you later this weekend,
make it a fun one!

ReplyDeleteWhat great images! I have to tell you, I love July Fourth decor even more than I love Christmas decor. I was born in the month of July -- maybe that is why? Unsure but I have a Patriotic heart and love this land that we live in.
You have SO many things here I adore! Your flag pillow, the decoupaged antique bottles -- and of course the PLAID lunch boxes tucked in the background!
Adore all your vignettes,

thanks so much, Alison. I read your last post, but didn't get a chance to comment then. You've been in my thoughts and prayers as I know you are going through such a major life transition right now. I DO know that you will make another amazing home wherever it might be! xo Deb

What a great compilation! Hope you have a restful and fun-filled holiday.
ReplyDeleteWell this is a fun parade of your past vignettes! You have such a flair! I loved seeing them all together. You have inspired me. And you're right about how much something vintage adds to a display. I love the look of old flags. Have a great weekend!
ReplyDeleteYou are the queen of vignettes are this is no exception...Love how you arrange and group together...Enjoy your holiday!
ReplyDeleteI agree with Cathy above! Your vignettes are fabulous and I love seeing how you use vintage quilts and articles.
ReplyDeleteThe shot of the dining room up toward the top is absolutely magazine-worthy!

Debra, like Alison above, I have a patriotic heart and love America. Seeing all your patriotic vignettes makes my heart sing. I pull out the red, white, and blue here for the summer months. My collection of Uncle Sam and Lady Liberty figures take centerstage on table tops here and there. I alternate what I put out each year because I have collected so much through the years. It's truly fun to see your different spaces celebrate the patriotic spirit of our country. Happy 4th of July!
ReplyDeleteYour new patio furniture looks great! I love that you can turn it into a sectional later, if you choose! find this
ReplyDeleteI love this review, especially the outdoor setting from 2012. It's still perfection!
