I've been decorating and tweaking since Saturday, (you too?) and to be honest I really didn't have much of a game plan before I started. I knew I didn't want to go out and buy anything. I have tubs and tubs full of decorations, greenery, ribbon, and fun vintage Holiday goods. I knew I'd be using Plaid, but then, I use some Plaid each Christmas Season. What I really wanted was something just a little "different" than what I've done in the past.
I started grabbing up boxes of vintage Shiny Brites years ago; I love their wonderful patina. I later narrowed my buying to golds, silvers, whites and creams, but still those lovely little brightly colored baubles had a hold on me.
Usually I just bring out the old boxes and display the ornaments inside,. But this year, I decided to break open the boxes and actually use a few. I thought my little LED Winter Frosted Tree would be a great way to bring in some of the Mini Christmas Brights/Brites.
I love the vintage boxes almost as much as the ornaments themselves.
Here is my little tree this Fall, with some silk leaves and berries.
(I don't think I've shared my new-to-me needlepoint pillow yet)
There's not much "fluff" or adornment on it.
I always think of this as a Charlie Brown Hybrid Tree. (te he)
It does look prettier all a-glow when it's night time.
As you can see, I have a couple of new friends who've joined the herd.
I'll introduce you soon.
How about you, are you using color in your Christmas decor this year,
or are you staying with neutrals?
I have a little of both!
Hope you'll come and join in next week.
We'd love to have you share the invitation with all your readers
on your blog or Facebook Page!

xoxo,
Your Charlie Brown tree is perfect, especially when surrounded by its herd of friends. It's the simple things (that sometimes take a little while to think through and execute, right?!) that make Christmas decor special, I think.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful! Love those ornaments, makes me want to look for mine:) Have a blessed day, HUGS!
ReplyDeleteI love your herd, (Bah, bah, baaaah, bah) and your vintage ornaments. I have been picking them up right and left this year, I hope I can find all my stashes. Very sweet tree---thanks for the smiles, Sandi
ReplyDeleteYour little tree with the shiny brights is adorable! I'm a sucker for vintage ornaments...love them!!

I love all of your vintage shiny brite ornaments! They looks so cute on the little tree you made.
ReplyDeleteI love your tree! I managed to break a shiny brite ornament today. I have less than a dozen. I just felt sick as it smashed to the floor. You're really adding to your "herd" of sheep. I adore them.

Those vintage ornaments are fantastic!!! I can't wait to hear where you found your sheep.
ReplyDeleteYour Charlie Brown tree is the cutest I've ever seen! I have some vintage ornaments I inherited form my late parents and I always wish I had a way to make them 'shine' on their own as opposed to getting lost on the big tree in our living room. Any suggestions where I can find a tree like this? It's so dang cute!!
ReplyDeleteLooking forward to seeing how your decorating progresses. I pick and sort through everything, too. I just haven't reached the 'pick and sort' phase! lol!

I too put up a little extra Tree on a Table to do exactly the same thing with my Antique and Shiny Brite Ornament Collection... it had been years since I'd put them up since they are so fragile and many belonged to my Great-Great-European Grandmother so I didn't want to risk breakage with when the G-Kid Force Decorate the main Christmas Tree. It's so nice to have the first Christmas in our New Home have a different Style of Decorating for Christmas since the Home is so very different than the Historic one we left. Simplicity comes to mind moreso now for me in this Newer Home that is designed to look like an Old Tuscan Villa... and I'm Enjoying Simplifying things, which is a change from my usual Excessive Nature. *Smiles* And yes, those Old Shiny Brite Boxes are as Wonderful as the Ornaments, I like to Display mine sometimes too... the Vintage Graphics were so Cool back in the day! Merry Christmas from the Arizona Desert... Dawn... The Bohemian
ReplyDeleteOne can never have too many Shiny Brites in their possession, I always say. Yours look adorable hanging on you CB tree, Debra! I went with less color this year, but neutral is not for me. I love it in everybody else's home, but it doesn't feel festive in ours without some big pops of color.
ReplyDeleteDebra,
ReplyDeleteI simply adore your Charlie Brown Hybrid Christmas Tree with all it's Shiny Bright Ornaments!!!
Like you, I too, did some things a bit different at Christmas time this year!!!
I'm looking forward to your Christmas Open house Link Party, dear friend!!!
Fondly,
Pat
I love your collection of sheep and your Charlie Brown Christmas tree! I don't suppose any of your darling sheep were purchased this year and are available, somewhere...anywhere??? You mini vintage ornaments are so pretty. Love it all, Debra!
