Kitchen China Cupboard for Fall

Before we moved to this house, my kitchen china cupboard, had always been just that... a china cupboard. It held china, and some colored crystal and a few antique floral teapots. It never changed, no matter what the Season or Holiday. I had lots of other places to "play" and decorate, so this one I left alone...

July 2013

But now, I have a limited number of decorating spots, so I make good use of them all. The big change came when it became home for my Tranferware bits and pieces. I don't have "sets" of much, just mismatched items, that I collected here and there.

 a few pieces of Ironstone,
and my cow collection.

...for the Seasonal changes I like to add some
"Nature Inspired" elements and colors.

and doesn't everyone want birds to nest in their egg cups?

I love to use Bittersweet and twigs and leaves,
even in the China Cupboard.

and of course pumpkins add to the color and fun.

I don't mind mixing Brown and Red together.
In the Fall the Brown plates line the back.
At Christmas the Red shows up.

Somehow in my head, I kept seeing a cupboard in a little cottage, that had been invaded by the wild natural elements. A place where the garden crept silently into the kitchen and lovingly wound it's way among the china.

Where little pumpkins were growing and the leaves felt at home.

I still need a few pumpkins for the porch,
I just had to leave this tiger striped cutie indoors.

Hope you have a wonderful last week of September,
Coming up...

Oh, dear friend, I'd say, "You've found that cupboard in the little cottage that has been invaded by the wild natural elements and the garden has crept silently into the kitchen and lovingly wound its way among the china right here on Common Ground!!!
I adore how you use the brown transfer ware now and swap it out for red at Christmas time!!!
Each miniature sprig of bittersweet placed within the cabinet made my heart leap!!!
Autumn is my favorite season of the year, as well!!!
Thank you for sharing and always inspiring!!!

  7. Lovely post. I understand your inspiration, I wish bittersweet wereavailable here are a reasonable price, but grapevines are so I will have to be content using that. Love all your dishes, they are so suited to your china cabinet. Thanks, Sandi

  9. October is my favorite month of the year too! (Plus it's my birthday month.) I love your collection of transferware. I was just out shopping at a consignment store today and came across a huge collection of it. So beautiful! I have some pieces myself but I'm not using them at the moment. I've held onto them thought "just in case". Your Fall decor looks great mixed with the dishes.

  22. I have the same kitchen cabinet you have and recently lost it in a house fire. Would you happen to have the brand name? I really want to try to find another.

    1. Hello, I'm not sure of the Brand. I think it may be Broyhill, but we purchased it in 2002 from Havertys. not much to go on.
