I was thinking about the fact that I don't have a lot of "Easter" things out when I realized I probably haven't shared my mantel since Christmas or right after. I bought some new pussy willow stems and white blooming branches for Spring-i-fying the pottery vases, since I couldn't locate any Spring branches here at the house. I think my second tub of Easter goodies that I had from last year is buried somewhere in our basement storage room (story of my recent life).
It's hard to get a good photo in here because of the light and/glare
Things look a little washed out...sorry.
At this house we have several flowering trees (some are fruit trees) that are just now starting to bud, I'm excited to see what they are, and I hope to cut some branches to bring inside this week. Last Fall I couldn't tell what variety they were, everything was overgrown and in need of trimming.
I did locate a few delicate tissue paper eggs to hang from the branches. The kitties got ahold of one while I was on a step stool hanging these. Of course their best fun is batting something as far as they can under the TV armoire. big help. I'm too old for crawling on the floor hunting Easter Eggs.
My little friends have really gotten around this week.
I needed something extra up here, so they volunteered.
Along with one of my favorites;
a hand made paper mache bunny,
that I've had since the early 80's.
I know I'm pretty predictable about my mantels. Once I find what works I just change out the florals, ribbons and extras. The mirror is bolted to the wall, so there won't be any mishaps (or easy change-outs) And the mantel itself is so tall that I have to stand on a step ladder just to move things around.
I used some of the big green checked burlap ribbon
that I found on Christmas clearance for the topiaries.
At least I can change that out pretty easy for the seasons.
I've enjoyed having our monogram on the Boxwood wreath, so I'll keep that until I get tired of it, or have another idea that's easy to do. I think the wreath is on one of those Command hooks attached to the mirror itself. Here is a Spring mantel from a few years ago at the old house. HERE

Debra, I don't ever tire of your decor, and I love seeing it in your new surroundings, even if you do reuse items. Your mantel looks great. Love the visual of you crawling on the floor, hunting Easter eggs, while the cats sit back and silently laugh. ;)

ReplyDeleteYour mantel looks great. If you find a style that works, stick with it I say. I have always admired your monogram, did you have this piece made?
ReplyDeleteWe always had an Easter tree when I was a child so I especially like your pussy willows with the eggs. The monogram is quite elegant and looks great against the wreath. Love the bunnies- just enough Eastering!

One thing I really like about your mantel is how you made that niche work out for you so well. I like the mirror hanging in it. Now you have the depth to place more pieces on your mantel. Your mantel looks great all decked out for Easter!
