I've had a slight obsession with French Country Garden Goods, and I've been on the lookout for old gardening tools. With all the "stuff" hubbs and I have been dealing with since the end of last year, really... garden tools are the last thing I need.
Just ask him...
he'll let you know.
But I have this mental fantasy that I'll have a garden room again
and that I can decorate it with all kinds of frenchy garden things.
I've realized it's important to keep some "dreaming" alive
even if it seems impossible at the moment.
Here's the French Inspired Garden Frame from my last post.
I have other old tools hanging out in our garage.
One that I found was an old bulb planter that I'll share later,
I plan on using it...
eventually.
Right now I need to just not be tripping over them,
or have them in a place where hubbs actually has to see or deal with them.
Why can't guys realize that sometimes we just have to go with our gut?
In hubby's defense,
he was the one that had to pack box after box of my old garden junk.
when I was out of commission.
He's reached his limit, I'm pretty sure.
I found these breadboards at Antique Farmhouse.
And I've had some of you ask about my basket full of linens...
do my kitties nap there?
They are a lazy couple of cats,
but I've never seen them in there.
shhhh...don't tell them...
Here is a collage of pics from my French Garden Fantasy over at Pinterest.
Hope you're having a wonderful week. We're having a cool-down like a lot of you. Perfect for me, I'm not a fan of the heat. The older I get, the less I like to sweat.
Joining in on these great parties:
xoxo,
We had a wooden pitchfork and a wooden rake in our livingroom for years in The Netherlands. For the last 8 years they have had a special place in our foyer in our new home in Louisiana. And I probably have a similar bulb planter ( long wooden handle?). That thing comes in handy to for planting my boxwood hedge. Antique garden tools are the best! Linda@Wetcreek Blog
ReplyDeleteHello dear Debra... I love that you "always keep dreaming"... one day soon, all of your worries will be over and your dreams WILL come true... "a dream is a wish your heart makes"... one of my favorite quotes... love your pitchfork!... and yes, every French country kitchen needs one, I am going to lay that on Jack right now!... wish me luck!... I love vintage garden tools too... many of mine belonged to my family, infact, I used most of them when I would help my mama in our gardens... my daddy used them till he passed away (still worked his little gardens till he was 91 years young)... they are so much fun to decorate with too!... I still use my old hose nozzles that were my familys, but bring them in at night... I would cry if one got stolen off my hose!... love love love your basket of linens... I have not posted for over a month now... missing it, but enjoying getting caught up on alot of other things... going to look at your Pinterest boards again... YOU got me hooked on that and I initially denounced it!... much love... and happy thoughts, many prayers... xoxo Julie Marie

Hi Debra! Love the pitchfork! And, all of your bread boards are amazing! I wanted you to know I've been keeping up with your posts...just haven't commented in a while. I've been praying for your continued healing. Hope you are feeling better :) HUGS
ReplyDeleteAlways enjoy seeing your posts, with more post I hope this means you are feeling better. I'd love to have a pitchfork like that and looks so charming in the corner. Those are some pretty French Garden photos, inspiring!
ReplyDeleteI had to comment since I had a pitchfork hanging in my house, plus a deer head that I found on a walk. I had that head hanging in our bathroom in the mid 90's before it became a "look". I think you go with your gut and what is interesting to your artistic sense. At least, that is how I decorate. Now, I need to find ANOTHER pitch fork for this house, thanks for the reminder of how esthetically pleasing they are.
ReplyDeleteSuch a nice corner Debra, love it! You have a way of arranging things in such a nice way and those bread boards are so nice, I've been keeping my eye out for them but no luck yet...
ReplyDeleteBlessings,
Cindy
I love all your beautiful choices for photos! I love French garden vintage and antique stuff too. I'd love the dreamy spaces too! Take care of you!
ReplyDeleteThe pitchfork is fabulous! I am wondering if we might still have one of those from the farm. We still have a few of the old gardening tools.
ReplyDeleteDreaming keeps us going. I don't know what J and I would do without our dreams. I guess that is why I am enjoying that little bitty :transitional" apartment, so much.:-)
Keeping you in my thoughts and prayers, Debra!
I love it all! But I so love stuff like this. We have had some old wagon wheels that belonged to my husbands grandfather who has been gone for years...that belonged to his dad...sitting out in our barn. Recently we took the wagon wheels (we had 2) and placed them in our backyard with flowers. I could not believe I had waited so long to use them. Looking at your different outside tools has got me to thinking now! Might be just the inspiration I need! Thanks so much for sharing. Hugs and blessings, Cindy
ReplyDeletebaaahahahahaha, your hubby sounds like mine with the comment about the pitch fork! I think it is the most awesome element of that display :) I follow the Flea Market Gardening blog and there is so much inspiration for using old garden tools it makes my head spin, so many I want to try!
