A turn of the calender page,
a few days of rain from Isaac,
I've been bringing out the Fall and it's found it's way to this old train case. A 3 dollar find from the flea, whose mirror was broken, so I mod podged a calendar art page on the inner lid.
I'm feeling the more muted hues this year.
Silks and natural hydrangeas share the space
on my wicker trunk in the Entry.
A velvet pumpkin from last year;
I'm hoping to add a few more soon.
( a few of you have asked if I made this, but no, sorry to say
I saved my pennies for it. Love them, but they are a little pricey.)
Hope your first weekend of September is wonderful,
even if the sky is gray...

We are waiting on that rain here, Debra. I'm hoping it will cool things off a bit, it is disgustingly humid today. I was going to go up in the attic and get my Fall stuff down, but I think I will wait for a cooler day! Your train case looks lovely. I am loving those velvet pumpkins!
ReplyDeleteI too am ready for Fall. Pop over to my blog www.simplymedesignsbygee.blogspot.com
ReplyDeleteI started to put mine out as well. Sticking with the traditional coloursas I had them already, but I am slowly feeling the pull toward the more muted tones.
Beautiful decor Debra.
Cheers, Gee
Debra,
ReplyDeleteElegant velvet pumpkin! Adore the soft, muted hues of the hydrangea in your train suitcase! Much like you, I am ready for September, cooler temperatures, and all the Autumnal brisk mornings with doors and windows thrown open to welcome the fresh air of F A L L!!! Looking forward to your new weekly meme Fabulous Fall Fun!
Fondly,
Pat

ReplyDeleteHi Debra I love the muted huges in the suit case. Really pretty. I am not ready for fall yet with all my summer garden still in full swing but I am sure in do time here in Chicago I will be losing my summer garden and then can think fall. I love what you have done.

Still hot here, 92 yesterday....just nasty.....can't wait for Fall!! Pretty vignette, very soft!! Saw the most gorgeous magenta velvet pumpkin at Hobby Lobby today, bit pricey at $29.95, even with 40% coupon, still toooooo much, and who wants just one???

ReplyDeleteIt's been a fantastic long weekend.
ReplyDeleteOh how fun your display is. I love this time of the year. Soon to pull out sweaters and watch the leaves turn to crimson and orange. Your pumpkin and dried hydrangeas set the tone that cooler temps are to follow.
Have a great day! Thanks for sharing.
Linda
Fall and its colors seems to fit your home perfectly, Debra.
ReplyDeleteI'm not quite ready for fall yet. Soon.

Bring on the fall! The velvet pumpkin is worth splurging on. I tried making one out of the closest thing I could find to velvet and it was UGLY! Went right into the circular file aka garbage can. Love your suitcase filled with dried hydrangeas!
ReplyDeleteI am ready for some cooler weather but it is still pretty hot here in the South! I welcome a little bit of Fall:) Have a blessed day, HUGS!
ReplyDeleteI hoped that you would find the rain welcome. I'm glad. As much as I love summer, I have surrendered to the sweet seduction of September. I guess I forget how delicious it can be. I like the display in your train case. Makes me want to do one too!
ReplyDeleteHydrangea and a velvet pumpkin...perfect! I'm ready for fall, too...my favorite time of year!

ReplyDeleteSusan
Very lovely! I've just started as we are still in triple digits, but you can see a glimpse at Quilts & Other Good things: http://loisarnold.blogspot.com if you'd like.
ReplyDeleteOh Debra I am so with you on feeling like Fall. I too have a Lust for Velvet Pumpkins and Thankfully have amassed a good Collection of them. Last year someone here in the Land of Blog did a Tutorial on them so Google it, they are very inexpensive and easy to make actually and now I save my Pumpkin Stems each year so that I can utilize them in Creations.
ReplyDeleteHappy Fall Feelings... coming to you from the Arizona Desert where it's still well over 100 degrees so we need to THINK Cooler thoughts LOL... Dawn... The Bohemian
Love your train case! You've got it fixed up nice for Fall!
ReplyDeleteA fantastic fall palette!!! I love the colours you went for and your velvet pumpkin is gorgeous! :D
ReplyDeleteHugs,
With September here, I feel I can finally officially turn the page. Leaves are starting to fall anyway with the drought. The tiny velvet pumpkin is so cute! It's elegant and reminds me of Cinderella. The calendar page in the train case made a nice touch and a neat save, too. I have turban squashes on my kitchen table. They are the weirdest, most colorful natural sculptures around!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful vignette. Love the pumpkin and a great ideal to use the calendar.
ReplyDeleteSandy
