I've picked up these great conch shells at the fleas for just a few dollars,
so they are piled in here, at least for the next few weeks.
Here's the rest of the mantle. I found these wonderful starfish at The White Rabbit in St. Louis. What a great shop, wish I'd taken photos, but Anne and I were headed back to Springfield and it was a quick visit. Such a great store, if you're in the area be sure and stop by. It's packed with great vintage, shabby, chippy, white goodness!
If you didn't see yesterday's post on making some faux soldered bottles,
then scroll down to the next post.
Also, a fixture on the mantle are my super duper love'em so much
Wolff Pottery vases. A huge bargain from Restoration Hardware
a while back.
About 10 dollars each.
...but I did have to paint them white.
(Did I tell you how much I love them?)
More Living Room; no shells,
but how about some repro Staffordshire dogs instead?
nothing says "Summer" like repro dog figurines.
(just kidding)
and my white desk in the corner...
This however, does say summer...
my vintage botanical specimen window.
Hard to believe, but I found a large college notebook from the 1940's
filled with them for $11.
I know...
don't hate me cause I'm lucky.
oh, and another tapestry stool to feed my addiction.
Not cheap, but still a bargain at 40 dollars from Robin's Vintage Suitcase.
(Her new tearoom opens next week...yay!)
OK, you know me...
I'm itching for Fall...
I LIVE for September 1!!
Until then, I'll just have to play with my shells.
While hunting for photos I just realized it's been a year this week
since I started my Living Room transformation by painting over 20 pieces
of furniture white...yikes.
I'll be joining these gal pals for parties this week:

xoxo,
I love all of your summery decor. Lately, it has become my favorite look since going all neutral and all. I think shells add texture and a bit of nature, so in my mind, it could be used all year long. I love how pretty your living room looks.
ReplyDeleteThe living room looks great
ReplyDeleteAnd I like you shells of course and have mine on my front porch since the house is on overload
Every time you say "painting twenty pieces of furniture white" I get a little dizzy. The shells are lovely (especially urn Bound) and not crazy all over the place like mine. xoxo, Olive
ReplyDeleteLove the urn and the shells are fabulous. All of your displays and vignettes are so pretty. The dogs are just way too cute. Your home loos amazing in all white. Thanks so much for joining to TTT. Hugs, Marty

ReplyDeleteThis is the "C O O L E S T" living room I've seen this Summer. Made the 106 degree temps seem far, far away, my dear friend! Lovely transformation! Thanks for sharing the time table that it took to get it where it is today...hepls those of us going through similar decor changes to understand that it doesn't happen in a weekend! The window took my breath away...great find!!! Have a wonderful week ahead!
Fondly,
Pat

It ALL looks wonderful! Seashells add to any type of decor (even landlocked here in Kansas!)
ReplyDeleteI love your summer coastal living room. I especially love the skirted slipcovers on the two chairs. Did you make them? If so, did you have a pattern? I have a pair of very similar chairs that I need to do something with. Hugs to you on this beautiful summer Sunday! xo, Kimberly

I love your shells, Debra!! But I also love the repro Staffordshire dogs - I have a pair in my house, too! I'm going to have to go back a year or more in your blog to see the living room before you painted everything white! I'll bet the transformation is quite dramatic! Have a wonderful week... Donna

I feel like I am in decorating purgatory!!! I adore your living room. I love the contrast of all the white against the wood beams and the upholstery. Beautiful. XO, Pinky

Debra, I absolutely LOVE your shell filled urn. I'd keep it out all year, too. Gorgeous! "Repro" dogs say Summer to me, and Fall and Winter, etc. I'm always looking for a few more to add to my tiny collection.
