Do you have "corner nurseries" where you are?
Around here, larger nurseries set up "satellite" sites around town
to make it easier and more tempting
to spend money on whatever the current blooms might be.
I don't buy them all at once,
I have to spread it out to decide what and how I want to use them.
Not to mention that flower prices seem to have skyrocketed...eeeck!!
So they are usually my "Mother's Day Present" to myself.
Here are a few blooms waiting to go into containers for the back deck,
in one of my galvanized metal carriers.
Then to wish you a happy Mother's Day,
a framed Mother's Blessing print from 1939.
(You know I love my English Cottages!)
After storms last night and this morning we're expected to have a lovely weekend.
The guys are opening the pool today,
so it's a work day for me too, cleaning and arranging outside furniture.
Have a wonderful family weekend,
I'm linking to these metal parties this weekend:
And if you haven't entered my May Give Away

love to you all,
Happy Mother's Day to you too dear Debra!... love your Million Bells, they look so pretty! And that is such a sweet little Mother's Day blessing...yes, we have little local corner nurseries here too, one I can walk to in less than five minutes... I while away many a Spring day there!... enjoy your gorgeous MOther's Day weekend... xoxo Julie Marie

Beautiful, Debra. I love those rusted nail heads against the silver and how the nail on the right of the handle is popped up some. Gives it such character. Happy you didn't pluck it out and toss it. That old, weathered wood is pretty too. Your framed print is so pretty. We don't have corner nurseries here but I agree that the price of flowers has sky-rocketed in what we do have. I really need to take time and learn to plant gardens.
ReplyDeleteThank you so much for linking up, friend.
And Happy Mother's Day!
ReplyDeleteYou have perfect cottage style. I love looking at it. I somehow gravitate to something else. Don't know what. Corner nurseries are so smart for everybody! Your watering cans and flowers are so heart warming! I like my gifts to myself the best! Ha! Have a lovely weekend, dear Debra!
ReplyDeletewe have a few privately owned nurserys here for plant buying and then all the larger grocery stores have theirs set up.Wal-mart of course has the big set up.I make much fewer the purchases I once did,, but i still do it in several trips,, i like to think about it and then theres always that something you just have to have after seeing for the first time.I hope you have a wonderful weekend.
ReplyDeleteGorgeous! I love the vintage watering can and basket. We have some gorgeous nurseries and garden centres here, both large and small. The weather is still a bit cool and unpredictable, so we bring them in each night until all chance of frost has passed, usually in late May or early June. My husband and youngest son are out right now buying me two hanging baskets for Mother's Day and have called three times to check on colour etc. You'd think they would know me better by now, men!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful pictures. Happy Mother's day weekend to you as well.
ReplyDeleteSusanne.
Really like the basket container. I have not noticed the corner nurseries, but then there are so many large stores that carry flowers/plants, plus quiet a few large private owned local nurseries.
ReplyDeleteHappy Mother's Day!

The plants look gorgeous in the galvanized carrier, too bad you will be taking them out to plant them. Maybe leave a few in there too. So pretty.

ReplyDeleteHappy Mother's Day. Your pictures are just beautiful. Is there something special that you do to them? I would love to achieve that blurred background with some of mine but I don't know how to do it. Just thought I would ask. It never hurts to ask....or so said my mother :).

I like your pictures and blog. I'll be back again to visit. Glad I stopped by.
ReplyDeleteA beautiful Post... alas, many of the smaller Nurseries and even those in such places as Target have closed down in our area so it's difficult to find plants and thus I've been planting many of mine from seed or cuttings now.
