Vintage Inspiration Friday #26 Thinking of Spring

This time of year I start thinking about Spring.
Not just "Spring", but more specifically,
thinking about plants and flowers for my deck and porch;
bringing some color back into my life and surroundings.

I bought the book, Carolyn Westbrook Home,
several years ago and have found endless inspiration.
One of my favorite segments is at the end of the book;

The Potting Shed

Everything about this setting speaks to my vintage heart;
old metal chairs, shutters, chippy white table, old iron gate, garden statuary.
The old metal basket, and even a beautiful way to display broken concrete urns.

I adore this rusty iron and chippy paint gate.

And even the canning jars with a seed packet;
a simple display, but lots of impact.

Oh, to have a place for bags of soil, garden utensils, pots and ideas!

If you haven't seen this wonderful book,
you'll really enjoy it.
It's one of my all time favorites!

And now;
Take a look at some great inspiration from last week!

I'm In!!!

Well, I made it, but not without lot's of help. My hubbs and son-in-law, Chris;
my two trusty sidekicks, did the hard work.
I still have more things to bring in, but at least I'm there.

This is the first time I've moved into a space
 that I didn't bring enough stuff to fill it up.

So I still need to put a few more tubs together of smalls,
and bring in a few more prints.

The huge architectural window piece has been in my garage for a year or two.
I thought it made a good statement sitting there in the middle.

that was sooooo much fun,
and I have the scar to prove it!

I had the wicker settee in my Dining Room,
but it's time to let it go.
I traded it out for a church pew that I recently painted white.

Here's lookin' at ya!

If you live in the area, Relics is a lot of fun.
Located on West Battlefield and Kansas Expressway.
10-6 M-F,
12-6 Sunday.

The new Tea Room is scheduled for late Spring.
(can't wait!)

Hope you all had a good weekend,
I've been a bum today.

love ya,
Debra

Vintage Inspiration Friday #25: Where to find it

                                                            ... Inspiration, that is.

Nothing like a day at an Antique Show (Antique Festival of the Ozarks' first show) for some great shopping or to give you some fun ideas for displays! I'm always ready for a trip to a great store, Open House, or show, to get those creative juices flowing. And I guess they were, because I left the show Saturday and went directly to find another booth space! Who knew...?? I like to "shake things up" every once in a while, and I was definitely in the mood to do some shakin'! Not to mention just trying to clean out the garage. My house has become another storage unit, and it's time to take it back from "Hoarders".

These next few photos are from

Brian was here, but Meloney was in Houston at the Urban Market.

These are a few of Brian's great zinc top tables.

I forgot to ask what this was, but it was really cool.

And here's Sheila's space.
 She has the most wonderful old Victorian house in Billings, Missouri,
 that she and some very talented people host
once monthly sales.

(I'm seriously in love with this cabinet)

She's hiding here.
so cute, sweet, and talented!

And for some more inspiration from last week's party...

I've said this a bunch of times,
 but Theresa Cano has been my main inspiration since day 1 of blogging.
She's generous, kind, beautiful, creative and talented!
She was my first blog crush, and she added me to her blog roll.
Her slideshows are where I head with my first cup of coffee.
LOVE, love, love her!!
Thank You, Sweet T!

Some News and Thank Yous

In my last post I mentioned that my weekend was a blur.
 at the Expo Center here in Springfield,
and if you didn't make it you missed a great show.
It was the first one and they are off to a great start.
Dealers from OK, Kansas City, Dallas...
not to mention some great local dealers like my buds
Brian and Meloney Russell from the Seed Box Antiques.
(photos coming soon!)

Hubbs and I made the rounds this weekend,
So I shopped till I dropped and found some really wonderful things.

These are just a few of the "white" things I grabbed for White Wednesday,
but I have a load of others.

I found a box of really old quilt blocks
that were made from feed sack material.
They need a little soaking,
but I couldn't resist!

They will become pillows and sachets
 when I can sit down long enough to make them.

There were a lot of these little embroidered pieces,
but they were stained and I have to work on them.

An old wedding invitation in a vintage frame.

several feed sacks for pillows

these crocheted pillows

And I couldn't resist these bluebird pillow cases.
Ditto for the good soaking....

(gee, do we detect a pillow theme going on here...?)

So now for the news...
I've found a great space at the new Relics Antique Mall
and I move in this weekend!!!!!

I'm running around like that little chicken.
trying to get my act together.

I'll be back for
 Vintage Inspiration Friday
hope you can join in!!!

Now for the "Thank You's!"

for the wonderful box of Valentine goodies,

And Thank You, Suzan from The Old Grey Mare
