Vintage Inspiration Friday # 13 What's inspiring my decor this Christmas

I hope you're having a wonderful
Thanksgiving!
I'm sneaking off from all the family to post for
Vintage Inspiration Friday
(psssst...don't tell them I'm gone!)

My Christmas boxes are on alert,
and I'm so ready to dig in.

I have lots of different styles that I love for Christmas decor,
but the one I always rely on and find that is the basis
 for whatever else I might use is "nature";
Paperwhites, natural greens, holly and berries.

Here are a few magazine images
that I love and use for inspiration.

A rusty urn with a little glitz, glitter, and sparkle fit right in.

This year I'm being drawn to more
 neutrals and naturals with decorations

Burlap ribbon on the Living Room tree
(no ornaments yet)

My two smaller trees are up for the Thanksgiving weekend.
They're a little easier for me to handle.
I love a large tree, and do have one,
but since I'm the one that does the work,
I've opted for "less stress" and scaled down this year.

"My favorite number" 3 on an ornament I found at
 the Seed Box Open House.

Brown velvet ribbon is what's happening in the Dining Room.
What's inspiring your Christmas decorating this year?

Hope you'll join in for
 Vintage Inspiration Friday.

  7. So much inspiration here Debra! I am going in the same direction I think, lots of naturals maybe less bling. Of course the boxes haven't been pulled out yet and as soon as I see all of the vintage decorations well, I go a little crazy! i love the peacefulness that all of those images give. Happy Thanksgiving! Theresa xoxo

  19. I truly love the natural look as well. I will get my boxes of Christmas decor from storage tomorrow and start the process. Even in my little place, it takes me a couple of days. I love folksy, rustic at Christmas as well. And since my husband is in boat sales, I have a collection of lighted lighthouses that I incorporate also. Oh....I'm getting excited just talking about it!!

  21. Debra- I am with you. I am scaling back. It just seemed so stressful years before with "me" trying to get it ALL out and decorated. We did the family tree with all the kids ornaments on school break wednesday. Now all I am going to do is put up my "white" tree - the one decorated with what I love in the dining room.

I used to do trees in all the rooms but I went and purged almost all the decor except family memories and white. It was all donated to Habitat so someone else could have some.

    Enjoy your weekend..tammy

  25. What has been inspiring my Decor this Christmas has been the wealth of Faith inspired ornaments... especially the Milagro style Sacred Heart ornamentsl... I bought a couple and after they grace our Tree this Christmas I intend to create some Bohemian Treasure Necklaces out of them to wear.

  27. Just took what we have, and made a mantle arrangement, which we love very much. :-) Even though things are old, I can combine them differently, and in different spots in our home, different years.

You have a lovely blog here! In case I haven't said that before.

  37. debra,
perhaps i flatter myself, but i think we have so much in common we have been separated at birth! beginning with how guilty i feel when i'm on the computer working on my blog (or reading others'), perusing magazines for inspiration, favorite number is 3, down to the burlap and/or brown velvet riboon.
as you've named your blog "common ground" i guess this happens to you often . . . don't worry, i'm not "going SWF" on you. ;^)
i think this is the last time i'm a voyeur here--next time i'm participating in vintage inspiration friday!
    thanks for "inspiring" me!

  40. I LOVE the nature theme you showed. Soooooo refreshing. I wanted to do something different but, the GRANDS are coming this year & they want the whole kiddy tree complete with the Santa Train underneath. I caved... they are growing up so fast & I have other years where they won't care what my tree theme is. RIGHT? You had a lot of great participants today. I'm off to check some of them out. Hubby is doing great & back to work. I wanted to thank you again for all of your information & support when he went through all that heart stuff this summer! HUGS!
