Since this is my favorite time of the year,
I'm hoping to do some posts that are "magazine inspired".
I'm a big magazine fan, and some of my best ideas
have come from the pages of great layouts.
So to celebrate fall and all the goodness that it has to offer,
from decorating, to cozy evenings at home with family and friends,
to parties, and everything in between...
here are some of my favorite
"vintage inspired" fall magazine articles...
Spooky vignette to really get you in the mood.
Great for an entry if you're having a get-together.
Love this idea for a "Poe" inspired buffet
of hors'doeurves, or desserts.

Notice the tall silver candlestick, silver trophy cup,
silver platters and blackboard.

Wonderful tablescape consisting of black books and pumpkins.
Casual dishes, bookpage print placemats, and colorfull fall leaves.
All of these images are from the current issue of
Midwest Living Magazine.

Have fun pulling together great vintage pieces
to make your table decor a real party!

I agree the Poe inspired settings are awesome. The chalkboard really drives the theme home. I am becoming a fan of chalkboards. So versatile!
ReplyDeleteLove your header, it is wonderful! I am so bad, I don't like my interior changed, I put everything in its place to stay forever. The front porch I don't mind decorating for holidays ... Christmas is the only time I do my interior ...
ReplyDeleteHave a lovely weekend ... TTFN ~Marydon
I do love the whole "Poe" inspired tablescape! I've been getting ready to teach a class on boo-tifull buffets and tablescapes and you've inspired a few more ideas. Hope you have a "Wonder-Fall" weekend...blessing to you..dj
ReplyDeleteI love this! These vignettes are too cute for the holidays! Such great ideas!!! Thank you for sharing because I don't get that magazine. This post just makes me want to climb in the attic and take all my fall decorations down and totally deck the house. But, I think I will pass this year and resume holiday festivities next year (hopefully). Until then, I'll just keep enjoying these beautiful posts of yours!!!!

Hi Debra!
ReplyDeleteLovely blog -- I'm glad you stopped by so I could find you. I am a complete magazine JUNKIE. Have way too many, but I keep looking at them anyway. I went into mourning when Country Home and Southern Accents folded!
Lovely vignettes, and I do like that header -- I think I'm going to have to go invest in some pumpkins and steal Martha's ideas for That Old House!
Loved your heirloom post, too -- wonderful old sideboard, made even more beautiful by the memories it holds.

Hey Debra,
ReplyDeleteFirst, I want your header to be my front porch! Wouldn't that be wonderful to come home to and to have guests enter. Second, thanks for the visit to my blog...I immediately went at looked at each doorstop for a mark, but alas...none! I am not rich, just a collector of door colorful doorstops. Thanks for the advice.
