(pic from last July at the other house,

The white table has a leaf and extra chairs, 6 in all, is really heavy, and takes up a bunch of space. Space that I wanted for my cupboard and some wicker. Anyway, these two chairs fit perfectly here at the little counter height bar area of the kitchen.
I hadn't bought chair pads since we had moved to the other house 11 years ago, and I needed something new and fresh with a little pizzazz. So when Ballard Designs started their site wide 15% off sale, I jumped at getting new ones. I had to buy a set of 8 in "Medium", but then bought 4 more in "Small", as these little chairs around the round table are more petite in size.
I could have played it safe with a solid color cushion, but I'd seen this adorable toffee check, so I fell in love. I have fun mixing patterns on my wicker settee, so I thought these would go with most of my decor options.
Loving these Ballard chair pads, but measure carefully, they are bigger than you'd think. The "Medium" size was way too big for these chairs. I like the tailored look with the piping. What's great about these, are that you can remove the foam insert pad for cleaning, and they have lots of other colors and patterns for a new look.
Yes, that's the rug I had in the living room.
All this dark wood flooring needed a visual break.
When I found this set of chairs,
they had just been refurbished with repairs and new caned seats.
I'm not sure of the wood, but I love the darker cherry stain.
You can see hints of the other furniture pieces.
I'm enjoying using some things that are different than my usual white.
Lack of storage and cabinet space has had me getting a little creative.
Like many of you all out there, it's snowing this week...
we have it scheduled for every day...
every.
day.
I keep thinking I'll get an outside pic of the house,
but each time I think of it, I'm inside with fuzzy socks,
so I don't want to get out.
...maybe by Spring.
But here are a couple of shots of the houses across the street, so you can at least see a little of what it's like here. Cute subdivision of houses, new, to about 6 years old. It's on the edge of town, with a lot of treed acreage around it so it's not too different from where we just came from. This one is from the front porch.
This is from the kitchen window. Sorry about the blinds, if you kinda squint you can see what I mean. The houses across the street are walk-out basement homes, this one is one level and just a two car garage, but for now it's great. Only problem, the cats and I might put on some pounds cause its' small. I may put them on the treadmill!
Don't start these videos unless you have an empty bladder.
just sayin'.

Debra,
ReplyDeleteI am lovin' the little "peeks" at your new home, dear friend!!!
Like you, we, too have other pieces of furniture in our Family Room on the lower level.
I think it's "great" that you're able to use pieces you already have as you make this transition.
Now about those cats. . .
Fondly,
Pat

Those kitties are super! Especially the one in the second video. She looks and acts like me! Linda@Wetcreek Blog
ReplyDeleteI am enjoying seeing a little of your new home. I totally understand about things from the old house not fitting the space in a new place. We have bought some pieces and eliminated some things too. We have been here a year this past Oct. and I am still moving things around:):) Love the plaid chair pads. I am constantle changing mine with the seasons:):0 But I buy inexpensive ones so I can do that:):) Our house looks the same, I am so DONE with all this snow and cold!!!!
ReplyDeletePretty chairs! Love the checks! Nice to see the snowy neighborhood!
ReplyDeleteI love those cute checked chair pads! Loving the glimpses into your kitchen too. Looks like you have some beautiful wood in there. I know it must be fun getting the house set up the way you want it.
ReplyDeleteLooking great, gal! Those chair pads are so nice! Love the check, too! I love seeing how you combine elements, and pull a look together! You have such a gift for that!!
ReplyDeleteI look forward to more "nesting" photos!
Hugs!
Becky
What fun you are having!!! Love the round table, had one just like it, wish it were still here!!! More snow for us too...........
ReplyDeleteThis looks lovely! I am visiting you via Wow Us Wednesdays and look forward to seeing you at My Dream Canvas.
ReplyDeleteEverything looks very pretty and the seat cushions go well with the white. Love the kitty treadmill videos too!
ReplyDeleteyour new dining room is darling, debra:) you work fast, getting everything into place. the videos were just so funny--love the white cat!
ReplyDeleteYour dining room is beautiful! I love the chair pads on the white chairs.... beautiful!

I love how it all looks, Debra! Love those chair pads. I had got the black and white ones for our dining room back when we were at our old house. My daughter has that set now. We also use a round table in our dining area now. It was in our kitchen at the old house, Like you, it works great for me and hubby because it is just the two of us. Even when we have our daughter, son-in-law and granddaughter over for dinner, we make it work by bringing in an extra chair. It looks like a nice area. Who could blame you for not going outside to take pics. I've been inside myself trying to stay cozy and warm! : )
ReplyDeleteLove all the chairs and table, and of course the chair pads! It's snow all last night and still coming, so far 6" of snow! So far we've gotten over 53" this winter. I love snow!!!! The homes across the street are lovely, and if you lived in the Charmer you wouldn't think these are small! They look big next to ours.
ReplyDeleteLooks like everything is coming together! Love the cat videos.
ReplyDeleteLittle houses can be good! Hubby and I downsized almost 8 years ago into a Garden Home and haven't regretted it one second. Love how you have incorporated the "old" pieces to their new home. And so enjoyed the videos. Thanks for sharing. In northwest Louisiana, we haven't had a drop of snow but its cold according to our standards. Just gives me a real good excuse to use the fireplace.
ReplyDeleteIt's fun watching you play house mixing up old and new pieces etc and whatever else I might have said is long lost in my mind after cracking up at these cats!!!!
ReplyDeleteDebra,
ReplyDeleteLove those new cushions and I like the idea that you had about putting a smaller table in there...it all looks wonderful and I hope y'all get rid of all that snow soon.
Blessings,
Linda
Love the cat videos. I can see why you advised emptying your bladder first. Too funny.
ReplyDeleteYour new home and neighborhood look lovely and like you're settling in. We too have had enough snow to last a lifetime. Stay warm.
Cindy
I"m happy to see you settling in to the new place, Debra. The cushions are pretty and will add comfort to your seating as well. I really like the wood tones you have introduced and look forward to seeing more peeks of your rooms. We got another 25 centimetres of snow overnight and our big chocolate Lab is finding it hard to make her way through the backyard. The humans are having a hard time shoveling all the snow and piling it so high.
ReplyDeleteOh my gosh, laughing so hard at those videos!! I love your wood dining set. It really gives a cozy feel to the room, and the check is so cheerful and pretty!
ReplyDeleteDebra, I love checks and they make everything look so cozy. I have thought about getting pads for my chairs, but I have two checked parson chairs on the ends. Would need to get something that coordinated. I can see that you are having fun mixing things up a little. The videos were too funny. That lazy cat made me laugh so hard!
ReplyDeletehugs,
Jann
I love Ballard. They have the cutest chair pads. Yours look awesome against the white finish.
