Hard to believe it's almost Thanksgiving! I'm having that age old struggle of still retaining some semblance of "Thanksgiving" while trying to get started on Christmas decorating. One less week to decorate and enjoy Christmas is not fair.
Abraham Lincoln set the proclimation for a National Day of Thanksgiving and Praise as the 4th Thursday of November. For all his good intentions, clearly Mr. President didn't have to plan the festivities, cook the food, decorate for Christmas or buy the presents, all while trying to really enjoy the Season. It's too close to Christmas and not enough time to "regroup" plans and family. (Just a little fussing at how men randomly make the decisions...just sayin')
Oh well, not to be a complainer...
let's see some fun from last week!
Kristin, from Sophia's Decor gave us two wonderful Fall posts;

I have often wished Thanksgiving was in the early part of November. Thank you for featuring the turquoise and numbered display shelf. I so enjoy your party every week.
ReplyDeleteLovely features and thank you for hosting! :) I wish that Thanksgiving was closer to harvest's end the way the Canadians do it but I just uploaded a link with some history about how it ended up in November...some woman's fault, too! :) yeah it was HER idea :)
ReplyDeleteLove all your creative features Debra, especially the simple and beautiful square wreaths.

ReplyDeleteThank you for hosting the party, have a blessed day! :-)
ReplyDeletehi Debra,
ReplyDeleteYes, I agree, only a man would plan a big holiday jumbled up right between 2 others! No wonder we are all stressed out in December! Thanks so much for the party, I can't wait to look around for some Christmas inspirations~
Jenna
I am so THANKFUL our Thanksgiving is the 2nd Mon of October (Canadian) when I hear how my American blogger friends have so much to do in a short time to make these two special holidays significant in their own rite! I don't know how you all do it and I am so impressed with how hard you try. I'm all done my Christmas decorating and didn't have to feel bad that I 'overlooked' Thanksgiving as I did that up right in October! Thanks for hosting!
ReplyDeleteDD
Oh my gosh I love Kristin's green Thanksgiving tablescape! All of your picks are great, Debra, thank you for continuing to host this each week.
ReplyDeleteOh Debra...I think we have really changed things up since Mr. Lincoln's time. Not that I have any proof...but I'm pretty sure most of Christmas didn't take place until the week of...and I'm sure the decor was simpler too. Everything you do is lovely plus ten. If you don't do as much as you like, decor-wise, in your home I'm certain it will be spectacular...and no one will be the wiser. [hugs] ~Diane
ReplyDeleteLove the features, Debra! Thanks for hosting!...hugs...Debbie
ReplyDeleteHi Debra, thanks for hosting, appreciate joining in. I loved Donna's tape storage make over. She inspired me to do a bit of work on my Spool Project (coming up next Thur). Have a great week.

As always, thank you so much for hosting, Debra! I hope to pull out the Christmas décor this evening! You are absolutely right, one less week to enjoy it is so unfair! I hope you are having a lovely week! Blessings, Amanda

ReplyDeleteI hear ya Debra! I feel bad about 'sorta' starting my Xmas decorating, but a girl's just gotta have enough time for it all. At least I'm not hosting T-day this year...oh, the stress! :)
ReplyDeleteThere are always so many exciting links at your party, Debra! And I don't think I have congratulated you yet on your beautiful feature in Artful Blogging. It is such a gorgeous spread! I'm thrilled by it! Thanks for such a fun place to be once a week!

ReplyDeleteHi Debra... can't wait to start looking at everyone's posts... it is pretty much all Christmas now at our house as it takes me sooo long to put it all up... there are several Pilgrims and turkeys who put up such a fight to stay out, so they are still in my kitchen till Thanksgiving... you are right... what WAS old Abe thinking making it so close to Christmas?... xoxo Julie Marie
ReplyDeleteThank you for hosting, and happy happy Friday to you!
ReplyDelete♥Linsey

ReplyDeleteThanks so much for hosting this fabulous link party. I learn so much from visiting the various sites. Have a lovely weekend!
ReplyDeleteI feel the same way you do concerning the timing of Thanksgiving. Wish it were earlier in November so it wouldn't get overshadowed by Christmas. Do you think they (whoever they are) will ever change the date? I know, wishful thinking.
ReplyDeleteMary Alice
Thank you so much for the feature and for hosting such a great party! I actually included your Thanksgiving tablescape in a roundup today. Thanks for being an inspiration :) Have a great weekend!
