Hope it's not too early to share a little
cupboard love
cupboard love
from the Holiday Cupboard.
Last month, before Christmas, I mentioned that we had stopped off in Washington, Missouri, a quaint little river town on our way home from St. Louis, to visit a few antique shops and have lunch at a wonderful little inn.
Just the day before we left town, I had said that I'd wanted to dress the Holiday Cupboard in red transfer ware for Christmas, but just didn't have enough dishes to make a nice display. Well, guess what was waiting for me 200 miles away? A small set of red in my favorite Johnson Brothers pattern, Old Britain Castles.
With those extra dinner and salad plates I was able to add a few of my basic white and then a few chintz pieces (Staffordshire, Tudor Roses by Meakin) to bring it all together.
So when I put away all my Christmas,
I just went ahead and made the cupboard up for Valentine's Day.
This is my little Lefton Candy Dish with Cupid.
and a new paper mache sweetie.
Hope you're having a good weekend, we just got back home from another doctor visit for my hubby in St. Louis. We visited a few antique spots, but I only grabbed a couple of items. I'm trying to curb the clutter around here, so I think I'm getting more particular in what I buy. I've been cleaning out my closets today and I have four huge bags of clothes. yikes. I think I'm going to go curl up with a cup of tea and my new Southern Living Magazine. (yes, I'm a southerner at heart...)
I'm joining in with these fun parties this week:

Make it Pretty Monday at The Dedicated House
Table Top Tuesday at A Stroll Thru Life
Nifty Thrifty Tuesday at Coastal Charm
Tweak it Tuesday at Cozy Little House

Your cabinet looks beautiful, Debra! I'm so happy you found the transferware. For the longest time I wanted a set of the Old Britain Castles dishes and then just sadly decided I had way too many dishes to begin with! lol! They really are pretty. I love your little paper mache guy, too, and the ceramic piece is beautiful as well. I'm looking forward to seeing more of your home dressed up for Valentines Day!

ReplyDeleteVery pretty! I love the red transferware and chintz and what a nice collection. The row of ironstone is very pretty too. I have 4 brown/black and quite a few pieces of blue transferware but no red so far. I'm still looking though!

Adore your red and white transferware dishes...always easy to decorate using those red dishes. I collect brown, so they look fab during the fall. Happy V-day! Tiff

ReplyDeleteThank you dear, I am feeling much better and the floor is looking great. I love the red and white, and of course you have a way with displaying. I can't wait to start getting some color back in the rooms for the holidays. I picked up some holiday decor that is too great to put away after the holiday is done. Have a great weekend.

Oh so much beauty! Love your cupboard all dolled up:) The heart with the lamb is my favorite! Have a blessed day dear Debra, HUGS!
ReplyDeleteI had an ah-ha moment when I read this. I smash china for mosaics (don't cringe) and have all of them stored in the garage. Surly I have some plates with soft pinks in Valentines colors I can bring in at this time of year. I'll look today, thanks, but it's not going to look as wonderful as your display.
ReplyDeleteBliss
Oh it is so pretty. Love your new dishes and your vignette is so pretty. Hugs, Marty

Debra,
ReplyDeleteWhat a lovely Valentine display in your Holiday Cupboard, dear friend!!!
I, too am becoming a bit more select in what I choose for my collections. Limited space and funds make one's decisions a bit easier! Ha! I must admit, the red transferware is one that has tempted me many times before...who knows... one day it may just win out!!!
Fondly,
Pat
Debra your new dishes are so gorgeous. I love how the pop out at you from the white of the hutch and dishes. Nothing like a little red and white to get yourself in the Heart Day mood!
ReplyDeleteThey are beautiful and so festive.
ReplyDeleteSo pretty. I have a little red ware and love it. I do not decorate to much on any of the other holidays outside of Christmas but had decided to do a little more this coming year. Need to make a few changes through the year. So I have been trying to put together a little Valentine decor in my work room. Coming along a little slowly for me.
ReplyDeleteDebra, Love your Valentine cupboard! I found a large set of the same dinnerware at an estate sale. It looks beautiful in your cupboard and the ceramic mold is fabulous. xx, Sherry

Hello Debra. Greetings from Germany. I found you through Knick of Time and your Valentines display is beautiful. I even pinned the Cabinet with the vintage suitcases on top. I recently found a cabinet at our local thrift shop and painted it white and distressed it for the blue china I have been collecting here in Germany.
ReplyDeleteKay
