Last Minute Thanksgiving Sitting Area and the Baker's Rack.

I know it's a bit late for sharing Thanksgiving décor, but I like to keep a visual diary of how I decorate for each holiday and season here on the blog. You all know I love Thanksgiving, and this year decorating has been a bit thrown off because of the lateness of the holiday. But I did decorate and enjoy the late fall turkey fun. So I'm sharing the sitting area and highlighting the other posts from the Garden Room this season.

There are so many stages during the fall season. I start out with lighter colors and fabrics and by the time Thanksgiving rolls around the weather has cooled enough to bring out the heavier wool throws and darker hues with more texture.

This vintage Scottish wool throw is a vintage market find from years ago. I love the deep browns, burgundy and mustard plaid. I leave out my pumpkins from earlier in the fall, and add in my turkeys. It's my go-to covering for my wicker settee in the garden room sitting area. The large turkey on linen pillow cover is an Amazon purchase from last year.

My Big Boy resin turkey with a makeover about 15 years ago, always makes a showing for his big day. This month he's taken up residence in my vintage wooden crate.

Woodland critters run around the house in their last minute effort to get prepared for hibernation. There's always a squirrel, chipmunk, deer or rabbit to keep an eye out for. Our little 2 year old granddaughter enjoyed my furry critter collection last week and had fun steering them around the house in her Fisher Price shopping cart.

She also got her exercise by hoisting and carrying pumpkins around.

The baker's rack is filled with vintage finds in fall colors.

The small vertical spice box with drawers has been a fun addition to the baker's rack for the last few years. The open drawers are the perfect spot for mini pieces of dccor.

Did you catch my last post on using carts and wagons?

I know many of you are already heading into Christmas (as I am), so thanks so much for coming by. Happy Thanksgiving Week!

  1. Those colors are so rich, warm and wonderful, Debra. And I love your fun pillows. I see you have "His Majesty" too -- I have to pull mine out this weekend!
